About this house rental
Located in Truckee, this attractive house for $450 per night is a fantastic choice for your next trip. Nestled in the trees near the top of Skislope, a level driveway takes you to our stunning log home situated on two acres, giving it a parklike setting with privacy and elegance. Designed to evoke the feel of your own private lodge, exquisite attention was given to craftsmanship, finishes and décor. Each log was lovingly hand picked in Montana. A large bank of windows brings the outdoors in no matter the season. The spacious great room with its stone fireplace is the perfect spot to track winter snowdrifts and watch deer and birds. Two professional bakers designed the kitchen. With prep and kitchen sinks and a large Wolf range with grill, it is easy to prepare an intimate dinner for two or a family Thanksgiving feast. The spacious open floor plan easily meets the needs of a busy family. Designed for ease of living, there are three bedrooms: one bedroom (queen-size bed) and bathroom on the main floor for those who prefer not to use stairs. Upstairs are the en-suite master bedroom (queen-size bed), and the 3rd bedroom (full-size bed). The loft, with a couch and two twin-size daybeds, provides perfect away space for reading or watching movies. A mudroom minimizes after ski hassles, and forced air heating warms the house quickly. The wonderful wood burning fireplace further enhances the lodge-feeling. In summer you'll find golf courses, tennis courts, an equestrian center, year-around heated swimming pools, archery, a recreation center with a fully equipped work-out facility, hot tub and sauna, recreation events, day camps, spectacular biking and hiking, and of course access to the Donner Lake Private Beach and Marina with all its water activities for endless terrific family fun, as well as great rock climbing and so much more. Our property borders the Tahoe Donner Downhill Ski Resort - you might be able to see skiers on the green "Mile Run" at the end of our property. The entrance to the Tahoe Donner Downhill Ski Resort, the Cross Country Ski Area, and the downhill sledding and ice skating rink are mere minutes away. The upper part of our property is great for sledding! And 20-30 minutes away are the world class ski resorts of Palisades Tahoe/Alpine Meadows, NorthStar, Boreal (Boreal also has Woodward, a fabulous action sports mountain playground), Sugar Bowl and Royal Gorge. No shortage of things to do to be sure. Truckee has great restaurants and fun shops, Reno's airport is 30 minutes away (Truckee has a small airport), and you are close to the Nevada border for casinos, but if what you want to do is to do nothing at all, then we invite you to our home. Its tranquil beauty is guaranteed to hold you captive. In summer, stargazing while sitting around the gas fire table will make it difficult to ever think of leaving! On a final note, this home was a labor of love. We trust that those who rent it will keep this in mind and will treat it well. It sleeps six to eight people comfortably. We loved our stay at this cabin! It is a real log cabin that looks like it is out of a movie. Everything was clean, beautiful, well stocked, comfy and cozy. It had everything we needed and more, including amazing views from all the windows.
The neighborhood is beautiful and close to stores, trails and outdoor spaces. And the yard and deck are amazing! We loved being able to play outside in the snow and then come back in to the fire.
The host was communicative and available, and so kind.
I truly recommend it, I wouldn't change a thing.

We stayed with our family group including 3 kids for a couple of days. Cabin was perfect for our needs and the owner was very responsive. The cabin and interior is exactly as described and the kitchen is truly fantastic. If you want the hustle and bustle of Truckee, this cabin is not for you, but if you need a quiet place for a family retreat, it might fit your bill. Perfect base for hiking and just relaxing in the woods with family.

My favorite part of the house was the incredible kitchen and how well appointed it was. We were only there for a weekend wedding so didn't get to use it much, but this is a well equipped, spacious kitchen, open to the dining and living areas on the first floor. Immaculately clean, great deck space for being outdoors, comfy linens, and lots of privacy for each of us. Highly recommend this house! The host was 100% responsive both before and during our stay.

I’m an interior designer, and quite picky as to where I will stay. It exceeded my expectations. From a design and architectural standpoint, it was exciting to take it all in. It’s very special, and you should definitely rent this home! The cabin is rustic, yet light, bright, homey, and warm, with private views (on all sides) to the snowy woods beyond. Every morning it was fun to awake to find new critter footprints crossing the outside snowy deck. Everybody would try to guess what overnight visitor had come by.
My daughter-in-law and I spent most of our time cooking in the fabulous (huge) kitchen. It was equipped with most everything you would need (including a Wolf range). Once we were there, we were so comfortable that we didn't want to leave. When we weren't cooking, we spent our time chatting, enjoying a glass of wine, or napping in front of the 2-story stone fireplace (which was toasty−heated the entire house). There were also games, puzzles, books, and an upstairs TV with movies to enjoy. So relaxing!
Our 5-year old grandson and the guys enjoyed sledding down the hill in the backyard. It went all the way down to the ski run at Tahoe Donner Ski Resort. We were not familiar with that resort, as we usually go to NorthStar. But it looked perfect for families. Next time we’ll take that in as well. The rental price of the cabin included discount tickets to use all the amenities at the resort. Can’t beat that!

True Cabin Experience with touch of modern day amenities. Not sure I can express enough words that shares our wonderful experience. Family vacation with just the three of us, Brian, Jennie and Baby Bennett. From the incredible kitchen, the warm fireplace, to the stars out on the deck...you are instantly relaxed, feeling at home, and enjoying life in the Sierras! We will be returning for sure! As previous reviewers have noted, one of the best places they have stayed, I would echo this 100x. The first thing you notice is how quiet and peaceful everything is, of course, you get the occasional chipmunk and deer..but you soon melt into the incredible kitchen, making breakfast or dinner watching the wildlife outside. If its later in the evening, enjoy a warm fire in the fireplace. It lights up the family room and takes the chill off approaching winter. The owners have gone above and beyond to make life simple and enjoyable here..it's a place you will forever remember!!

Wonderful place to stay
Truly unique and beautiful house. We had several couples and 2 small children for a long weekend. We had everything we needed and the location was great. We had nice conversation areas and space to play games and it was very peaceful.

The house was gorgeous - great atmosphere, very clean, large kitchen with good pots and pans for cooking. Tahoe Donner has many lovely amenities as well - the beach and pools were great. We even took our little one on a pony ride.
The host was responsive and kind. The only thing I’ll mention is there are a lot of rules - a whole binder full of them. It was helpful to have all the information about the house but also a bit nerve wracking to make sure we didn’t do anything wrong.

Sublime Mountain Home
This is not an ordinary ski cabin rental. It is a work of art. Thoughtfully and exquisitely appointed (think comfortable beds, luxurious duvets, magnificent kitchen, marvelous bathrooms!), the home is tastefully decorated and beautifully designed. It really feels like someone's home. The host is attentive and considerate and has thought out every detail to ensure you enjoy your stay.

We were attending a wedding nearby and staying in this home was just a lovely place to land at night. The sheets were so soft and it had everything we needed. Wonderful place to rejuvenate and relax. We loved every moment of our stay there at the log home.

This property is everything and more! This was our yearly vacation and it did not disappoint 👏 Clean, big, views for days, chef kitchen, and sledding out the back door on the property. Cute neighborhood stores and ski slopes right below.
