Welcoming serene Delaware Beachfront cottage located in the heart of the Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge (8000+acres). Beautiful natural beach with Delaware Bay and Atlantic Ocean views. Abundant wildlife, birds, and sea life. Property is sanitized and sparkling clean with basic amenities. After years and years of study, we have come up with an all natural, eco friendly solution to common insects at the beach. We now have a new addition to our private beach paradise, a family of resident, Purple Martin’s to take care of all those pesky insects! Free Wi-Fi! The Cottage has cold A/C and is heated during colder months. Enjoy surf fishing. Bring your own boat, jet skis, kayak, or Jon boat and beach chairs. Free Wi-Fi! Fenced yard for dogs. Shower off the sand in the Bath(Shed)House. Laundry & bathroom are available in Bath(Shed)House. However, Shed House is Winterized during the months of, Dec, Jan, Feb & March. This is the 4th house we've stayed at on Prime Hook Beach over the past few years, twice on the Marsh side and twice on the Bay side, and this is now our favorite!
The sunroom/living area, which is nestled into the dune while also providing a view of the beautiful Bay water, was ideal for reading, eating, listening to music (and watching tv, once the spectacular sun set).
The decor/furniture was just right for beach living, tasteful and not distracting from the natural beauty. Also welcoming for our collective pups, which was a real bonus.
The host was very responsive, and also flexible about check-in/check-out time, which was much appreciated (and more likely, as we were there off-season, I imagine).
We managed to pull off a Thanksgiving dinner prepared in the kitchen without too many hiccups (and thankfully only a turkey breast, not an entire turkey, as the oven was on the small size), so that says a lot about how well stocked the kitchen was.
Fair warning that you may not have use of a second bathroom in the winter months, but as you'd have to go outside to use it, perhaps it's just as well!
Note that the 3rd bedroom, while it has a full-sized bed, is probably best suited to one person - or two, if the 2nd person doesn't mind clamoring over the foot to get out, as it's right up against the wall.
Would highly recommend this lovely cottage and we do hope to be back!

The stay was great! The house is very accommodating with the kitchen being at the hub of the house. Beautiful views of the grasses out front just before the waters edge, and a prefect fenced in yard in back for the doggies. The house was clean and cozy, with the front room ideal for dining, playing board games, watching TV, or just relaxing. Thanks for a wonderful stay!!!

Great place to stay, the house was very clean, comfortable, and well maintained. Communication was excellent with immediate responses to any questions we had. The little outdoor shed is great with washer/dryer, shower, beach chairs etc.
Overall a great experience, would recommend this property to anyone.

The property was exactly how it was represented in the listing. The back room with the windows provided a beautiful view. The beach is just a few steps away through the gate. It is a quiet area and the nature preserve is gorgeous. You can tell the owner really takes pride in being a good host. Would definitely stay again!

The description of this house and its location can’t begin to describe how quaint and beautiful it is here. Perfect getaway for my family and 11 year old pup. Literally step outside and you are on the beach. The sunrises are breathtakingly gorgeous. Quiet and away from the crowds.

Our only issue (which has nothing to do with the owner and the house) were the black flys….they were brutal the whole week we were there!

Perfect beachfront cottage for our family of four in a very quiet, uncrowded area. Easy drive to nearby Milton for supplies and to Lewes and Rehoboth for dinners out. Great kayaking locales are all around, including the bay just steps from this home. Beautiful wildlife preserve in the area means great bird watching, but also means mosquitoes, so pack your bug spray!

This place is a quintessential beach house with a touch of that cozy bygone vibe yet with all the current day necessities that make for an enjoyable stay. From the house there's great bay views, refreshing breezes, and the relaxing sound of waves crashing. We met a couple locals that were friendly and welcoming which is always a bonus. Overall, it was a great getaway and the perfect place to relax and unwind.

Our stay from 5/11 - 5/15 was incredible. The home was so cozy and relaxing. It was just perfect. The beach was simply beautiful. Our 2 dogs Nikki and Coco had a wonderful time playing in the water and chasing the waves. We walked along the shore for miles. My son and wife-to-be joined us for a sleep over. They loved it! They said we have to do this again. I was so sad when it was time to leave. When we got home, I talked about the trip for days. I can't wait for our next visit. A huge Thank you to Suzy our host. It was such a pleasure!

Lovely property with peaceful and relaxing beach. Close enough to town and all the shopping and restaurants but far enough away to feel kind of tucked away.
Only negative for me personally was no dishwasher.
Would recommend if looking to stay out of the busy beach areas.

We went for the week of Thanksgiving. It was just perfect. The location was great. Loved being able to walk out to the beach. It was also close enough to go to restaurants and shops. The house and fenced in yard were great. I would definitely go back.

Loved being able to walk right out the door to the beach with a book and glass of wine. Our dog Happy had fun in the fenced in yard, making friends with the neighbors' dogs. Very comfortable beds and thick, soft towels. Great area for kayaking and biking. We also enjoyed hiking through the nature preserve. Fabulous sunrises and sunsets!

This cozy cottage is just what we needed. Hurricane Ian remnants rained on us for four days. The cottage gave us peace and quiet away from the buzz. We only had a couple days of sun afterwards, but it was spectacular. The house was spotless, the linens excellent and towels were fluffy, just waiting for us! The natural beach provided endless beach combing treasures. The kitchen is absolutely adorable and well equipped. Standing at the kitchen work table looking out at the dunes was nice. The kitchen is the hub of the house boasting the amazing original woodfloors accented nicely with area rugs. Bathroom is a tad small, but very workable. The mattresses in the larger rooms were very comfortable. We did not have guests in the room with two twins. The bedroom furniture is sturdy and well taken care of. The inside drawers looked new; top drawers were velvet lined. We thoroughly enjoyed our one week stay; even with the rain out. We will return 😁

We've stayed at a few properties in Prime Hook Beach and this is our favorite one when traveling with our dogs. The fenced yard can't be beat. The beach is just steps away and never too crowded. The house had everything we needed. The host answered all of our questions super fast.

If you're looking for a stay away from the packed beaches of Rehoboth or craziness of US-1, this is the property you have been looking for! Very clean and well kept inside, and just steps from the beach. Our stay included 4 adults and 3 dogs, which it probably the max this house can support. We enjoyed views of the bay while eating meals we were able to prepare in the cute and well equipped kitchen and outdoor drill. Take time to drive slowly and look for many birds (and turtles) in the Prime Hook Wildlife Refuge on your drive to the property. Beach also boasted a plethora of shells and calm waves. Fenced in yard was perfect for the dogs! We did need to put in some time raking the beach to remove horseshoe crab bodies and algae, but that's to be expected with a natural beach. The bathroom inside the main house is a bit small, but we were able to make it work. The second bathroom is external to the main house in the bathhouse which also serves as storage (all one room, think shed) and is not airconditioned. Find whatever you need in the bathhouse -- rakes, clothing rack, beach chairs -- this house has everything you need for your stay, no need to overpack! This house is perfect for one or two people, but felt a little crowded with all 4 of us. Overall a great experience, and my husband and I hope to come back in the future!

We loved our stay in prime hook beach, as always. This is our third summer vacationing at DE beaches. The home was quiet, cozy, well equipped for what our family needed, and we had beautiful weather. Suzy was very responsive throughout our entire stay. Highly recommend!

Beach Front on the 4th of July!
Great week at Prime Hook Beach. This is our 2nd stay at the cottage and it’s perfect with our adult children and dogs. We met our neighbors and had fun sharing the celebration with them. There was even a local parade and ice cream social. Hope to come back again!!

Great house, great beach!
We had a truly enjoyable week-long stay at the house. The house was spotless, linens were fresh and clean, and the kitchen was well stocked and equipped. Suzanne was quick to respond to questions and the beach was great - we had fun fishing and taking in the wildlife and appreciated how dog-friendly it is!

Cottage was very nice. Very well equipped with items. Had linens and towels available which is a big plus. Place was immaculate and nicely decorated. Tv in every room, WiFi reception very good.
Owner available for any questions. Would give a heads up for vacationing .
Fishing was not great ,but husband did manage to catch 3 sharks !
Unfortunately had to leave early due to husband not feeling well. Would return again some time in future.

Beach getaway
A great, cozy place for quiet and seclusion directly on the water. The house was clean and had great views right on the ocean: you can watch the waves as you chop in the kitchen. If you want quiet, it's perfect. It's on a super slow, quiet road, with a small private beach. (If you want to be close to restaurants or bars, though, you might want to check elsewhere, though it was an easy 25 minute drive Lewes for take out). It was perfect for 2 of us and a dog, but might be tight for a larger crowd, even though there are enough beds to sleep 6. Gas grill was brand new and worked great, and communication was excellent. We got advice and responses almost immediately after messaging the owners.

Quiet relaxing week away!
Suzy's home is exactly what we were hoping for. Quiet spot with miles of beach as a backyard. Perfect for mornings reading in the sunroom, afternoons walking the dogs on the beach, and evenings sitting in adirondack chairs in the yard. We hope to get back soon!
