The camp is the oldest on Phillips Lake. The deed is on the wall showing the land purchased in 1882 from Mr. Phillips himself. The buyer was a Civil War veteran and the camp is in the same family today. The site has a great view and is across the cove from The Lucerne Beach Club and next to the CP Camp, Camp Capella. They were quiet at the camp and the beach club was busy but not annoying. The lake is clean, quiet and halfway between Bangor and Ellsworth. The stairs to the bedroom are steep and my wife was not comfortable using them so since we lived about 15 minutes away, we went home to sleep (We are both in our 70' and 80's. The stairs are not that bad in my opinion, but with a perfect night's sleep minutes away, we made the short trip. It was a last minute rental for us and we had things to do in Bangor anyway so that made the trip in sensible. But it is a beautiful spot. Highly recommend it.

We absolutely loved staying in the cottage. The family history on display was very interesting. Having no tv or Wi-Fi made for a more relaxing time. Sitting on the porch was the best! Great spot and great host. Provided everything we needed for a fantastic vacation.

Incredible stay
Incredible stay
We can't say enough how much we enjoyed our stay at Scott's cottage. It's lovely, the lake is beautiful and peaceful. There is enough around that you can get any place you want to go (meals, hikes, drinks, bookstore, etc) without too much trouble, but there's a canoe, crystal clear swimming water, books, and more at the cabin... so you don't really even need to bother going anywhere. 10/10 would stay again

Wonderful quiet and rustic home
Wonderful quiet and rustic home
We loved it here. The house sits right on the lake and is accessible to swimming and canoeing. The property owner is very attentive. Acadia is a about 50 minute drive and Bangor is about 30 minutes away. We would stay here again!

This was our second stay at this wonderful, old cottage. We really enjoyed ourselves on the property, swimming, canoeing, and just plain resting. Scott our host was great and quick to respond to questions. We are looking forward to returning to this little paradise.

We just adored the place. Built in 1885, this beautiful cottage is full of tasteful vignettes dating from far ago. The kitchen has all the required amenities. The view couldn't be more gorgeous. The deck afforded us to watch the stars at night and stare at the lake for hours on end. It was an incredibly relaxing vacation and we hope to return soon. Scott was great whenever we needed him and paid us a short visit during our stay to make sure all was all right. It was indeed!

Wonderful Historic Cabin
Wonderful Historic Cabin
This cabin has charm to spare, and many of the original features are still present, but updates have been made in the most important places. It was a great fit for us (four adults), and there was room for at least one other couple. Phillips Lake is so clean that the water in the kitchen and bathroom is from the lake. Bottled water for drinking and cooking water was also provided. The waterfront and dock are wonderful, as are the views from the house. Access is convenient. We really appreciated the full-sized refrigerator, and plentiful dishes, silverware, cookware, and accessories. It was a pleasant surprise when preparing meals to have an actual sharp knife to work with. Many of the windows are brand new and open and close effortlessly to let in the breeze. Some things you should know about the cabin: the stairs to the bedrooms are steep and would not be suitable for less agile people, especially when heading downstairs to the bathroom in the night. The walls and floors are thin, so sound travels between rooms and floors. The property is quiet enough that you can hear some road noise from the highway across the lake most of the time from outside or through open windows. Scott was easy to reach and a great communicator. He met us at the cabin to show us around and answer any questions. You can expect to see and hear loons, and there are even bald eagles nesting on the lake. The public boat launch is near the cabin, but boat traffic was not excessive, and there are as many sailboats, canoes, and kayaks as there are motorboats. There are great places to hike and paddle in the area, but you could easily spend all of your time at this wonderful place. We would definitely consider staying here again, and would recommend this place to friends.
