About this cottage rental

This modern, stylish 2-bedroom cottage will become an annual vacation destination for you! Relax on the deck, the dock or around the fire while you take in the serene sights and sounds of Northern Michigan wildlife. Say good morning to Frank and Jane (our local mallard duck couple) as they make their morning commute up the small Hiawatha Creek. Bring your boat and dock it at the house for quick access to Torch Lake, Lake Bellaire and all the Lower Chain of Lakes has to offer. The cottage is just 2.5 miles by land or 5 minutes by boat to Torch Lake. Dock your boat at “The Dockside Torch Lake” and enjoy food and drinks on the deck overlooking Clam River and Torch Lake. It is a calm 30 minute cruise through the beautiful Grass River to Lake Bellaire.

At night enjoy a bonfire and grilling out, all under the beauty of a northern Michigan star-filled sky. Inside the house, the well-stocked kitchen, healthy collection of board games and 4K TV will keep everyone fed and entertained. The gas fireplace is not for guest use, After an active day in the sun, curl up on the Tuft & Needle mattresses under premium linens while getting ready for another day on the lake.

Bellaire offers great destinations like Short’s Brewery, Glacial Hills (30 miles of hiking and biking) , access to the Antrim County Chain of Lakes, bike/kayak rentals, Shanty Creek Golf and Ski Resort, a bowling alley, a movie theater and so much more! The quaint village of Alden is also a few miles away and offers unique shops, a weekly (summer) farmers market and live outdoor music event. Traverse City is a quick 40 minute drive and offers access to world class dining, picturesque wineries and terrific breweries.

If you’re looking to balance all that great eating and drinking with some physical activity, the owner has curated a handful of active challenges for our visitors. We invite you to share your times in our record book and compete with guests who came before. Maybe you’ll set a record while enjoying your stay! Primary guest must be at least 25 years old. A true up North gem with easy access to all Northern Michigan has to offer.! We look forward to hosting you!

* The cottage is "Up North" and there may be swans, other waterfowl, and/or wildlife present at the property during your stay. Please respect them, don’t feed them and stay a safe distance.

*The lake is very weedy and not conducive to swimming at this location. There are public beaches within a few miles. Gas fireplace is not available for guest use.

Due to inclement weather, the septics through the streets were going to have to be opened and drained 1/2 through our stay and we were told that those employees may be entering the cottage as well 1/2 way through our vacation. . Also, there was initially no papertowels, laundry soap, and toilet paper that was sooo thin it couldn't be used so we had to go purchase those items but the manager eventually stated she dropped them off, but we didn't get some of the items that she dropped off. The vacuum was entirely full and I had to empty it to ensure that I could properly keep the cottage clean. However, Cottage was very clean upon entry, bedding was comfortable. I hope we are reimbursed for the days that we weren't there due to septic issues. I am not entirely clear on that either. So there were some great things, and some ok things, and some things were unprepared.
