The location in Getsemaní is fantastic. The area has a great atmosphere, with a nice mix of local life and tourism, and almost everything is within walking distance. There is even a legendary salsa club directly across from the hotel, which adds to the atmosphere.
We specifically requested a room away from the main street, and the hotel was very accommodating and provided exactly that. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the air conditioning worked very well, and we had hot water. The hotel has two nice pools, which were a great bonus.
The breakfast was fairly basic, but we really liked that the chef asked every morning how we wanted our eggs cooked and served them nicely. The staff were very friendly, helpful and accommodating, and communication in English was easy.
The area can be quite noisy, especially with the salsa club and lively streets nearby. However, this is also part of the character of Getsemaní and is to be expected when staying in such a lively neighborhood. The room was slightly humid, but given Cartagena’s very hot and humid climate, this was understandable and the air conditioning helped a lot.

Centrally located hotel, with a rooftop bar and solid breakfast (you order your eggs). Small pools were a plus as well as 24/7 reception.
Overall facilities, cleanness, coffee at breakfast were mediocre.

The only real positive is the location
I usually don’t leave negative reviews, but this place really missed the mark.
If you value even a few hours of sleep at night, avoid this hotel at all costs. The soundproofing is basically non-existent -it literally feels like your bed is in the middle of a nightclub. The party goes on until around 5 a.m., and you will hear everything.
The photos on Booking are very misleading. In reality, the hotel is quite run-down and clearly in need of renovation, especially the terrace, which was actually the main reason we chose this place. The pool was also dirty, with mossy, slippery tiles that made it feel unsafe.
We booked the highest room standard available and ended up in a dark, depressing room with no real window -just one facing the corridor.
Breakfast was another big disappointment. Very limited selection and poor quality,a few slices of cheese, only toast bread available… but no toaster. Honestly one of the worst hotel breakfasts we’ve had.
Service didn’t help either. No one speaks English, which made everything unnecessarily difficult. We reported an issue with the room -it was “accepted,” but nothing was done. Arranging a late check-out (for an extra fee, of course) took 1 day of back-and-forth, only to end up paying the price of a full night with breakfast. And for those extra hours, we were given a damp basement room that smelled of humidity.
In general, the staff seemed disorganized, every question had to be “checked with the manager,” and even then, we rarely got clear answers.
As a side note: you’ll get a “free welcome drink,” supposedly available at the bar from 2 p.m. except you won’t, because the bartender will tell you it’s not available when you ask. (Also, don’t get too excited -it’s just lemonade:))
Additionally, be noticed, as of March 2026, the streets around the hotel are under renovation, which generates additional noise and makes it impossible for a taxi to reach the hotel
