Situated in Leesville, this attractive house for $295 per night is a fantastic option for your next trip. Lake house is a family home nestled on a wooded 1 acre lot on the tip of the point with its own 300 ft. footbridge to a private island, 270-degree views of the lake, guaranteed fabulous sunsets, great swimming and boat ramp with deep water. The home is 35 minutes from downtown Columbia, 30 minutes to the USC Carolina football stadium and 45 minutes to Fort Jackson. One of the best locations on the tip of a point at Lake Murray with easy access to marinas, restaurants, grocery stores, hardware stores and other shopping just 10 minutes away in the villages of Chapin. This property has amazing views and scenery from the 300 square foot deck that surrounds the house on 3 sides which is a great place to catch the breezes in the afternoon. The home is located on the Chapin side of the lake at the mouth of Bear Creek. It is ideal for fishing, sailing and many other water sports. You would be in sight of Doolittle Island, (Bombing Range Island) where the famous purple martins’ birds fly each morning and evening from June to September each year. The dock is ideal for boaters and swimmers. This is a comfortable home with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths on the main level and a basement/storeroom on a lower level. It has a fully equipped kitchen huge indoor stone fireplace made from white rocks gathered from the lake. The fireplace comes with firewood. There is an extra freezer in the storeroom stocked with ice for your stay. Minimum stay is four nights.

Stayed her with my husband and 3 adult kids. Such a lovely property. About 40 minutes outside of Colombia but worth the drive. Sits at the end of a peninsula. Feels like your own private oasis. They have a porch around 2/3 of the house and has an amazing view of the sunrise as well as sunset ! My kids went out one afternoon in the kayaks and we enjoyed walking around the beautiful private island you can access by a long pier. We were able to take walks in the quiet neighborhood too!

Amazing weekend full of peace and time together. Perfect getaway for our family of 5 (16, 14, 10) where we explored the island, kayaked, took a trip into Columbia for the game (GO GATORS!) Plenty of space for us to spread out and so much to do outside. We hope to get back soon!

This is the quintessential lakefront stay. If you’re an avid bird watcher, it’s highly recommended as we saw bald eagles, hawks, egrets, herons, and migrations of Purple martins each evening (August only, I think?)
You can tell this is a family home that has been cherished and holds years of, what I imagine, cherished memories.

This is a great place in an awesome location! We enjoyed the dock, bridge, and island. Lots of fishing! Our younger teens love the kayaks. House was well stocked with staples as well as lots of games for evenings. We would recommend for sure…hope to come back soon!

This place as perfect for us! It’s an awesome find on the lake. I brought my ski boat and was able to get it down the boat ramp, although it was pretty tight. The purple martins were in full force on Bomb Island where they roost for the summer. The house was clean and nicely decorated. Margaret is a great host.

Peaceful place with Great Lake view and access. A nature lovers heaven. We watched a doe and her two fawns wander by. Had to download app to help identify all the different birds we heard. The fishing, boating, and swimming is excellent right off the dock. And the house has all the comforts of home.

This was our family's second visit to this property, and we had another great stay. This classic lakehouse is full of character and charm. You can tell its been used and loved by a family for generations. Its in an excellent location with outstanding views, a nice dock and its own island! I would highly recommend this home to aynone looking for a Lake Murray getaway.

Tucked on wooded lot with awesome view of the lake. Enjoyed extra long table for puzzles, crafts plus enough space for meals for 4+...of course with incredible lake view! Two separate living rooms - 1 for TV & 1 for reading. Lots of comfortable seating for big crowd - same goes for lakeside deck. Great place for lazy days. A true lake house rather than
luxury resort:) Host was most accommodating and easy to contact.

This was our second stay at what we call "the island house". It was even more beautiful than I remembered from our first visit. We had a busy weekend with college move-in, so didn't get to participate in any water sports this time. Being close to the water and watching the evening sunsets was fantastic therapy for an emotional weekend.

First time renting a lakehouse at Lake Murray. We were captivated by the pictures in the ad and yes, the location is fantastic and views are spectacular. We enjoyed our week here but wanted to pass along some concerns that might affect your choice of renting here.
There are a couple things to keep in mind if you are considering renting here though and since everyone's preferences are different, I thought I would provide more detail than what we saw reading reviews so that you can make an informed decision.
1) Again, the location is great. Wonderful views of the main lake, pretty central to everything and away from the crowds on the Northeast part of the lake. Sitting on the deck each morning drinking coffee and watching the boat traffic was really nice. HOWEVER, if you are planning to bring your own boat, there are a couple considerations. You are going to have to launch at the public launch a couple min away if you've got anything bigger than a bass boat or maybe a smaller bowrider. I don't see getting a pontoon in there. The driveway is extremely narrow leading down to the dock w a very tight turn around and also has several pine trees growing across from each other at the edge of the driveway. We did get our bass boat in and out successfully but it was a tight squeeze. Also, because you are on the main lake, there is a LOT of wake ( on the weekend especially ). It's a floating dock so you have to keep your dock lines loose and make sure you have a good set of bumpers Again, not a deal killer, just something to be aware of.
2) The house is nice but is very dated. Appliances are all functional but at least 30+ years old ( except for dishwasher ) and bathrooms have never been updated. Not a big deal for us but if you are expecting a place that has been renovated recently, this isn't it. Everything worked and was functional with the exception of the master bath. It's the tiniest one I've seen and it was hard to take a shower without banging your elbows. If you are a bigger person, this might be a challenge.
3) Pests - in talking with the owner, pests in the woods are a constant challenge. It was a bit disconcerting when we checked in and there are traps visible all over the kitchen in every corner. Seem to be cockroach traps. Did get stung by a yellowjacket on the way out and my buddy got stung the first day but I chalk that up it to being in the woods. If you have a bee allergy, might want to consider that.

Chicken Soup for the Soul
My wife and I and our three children aged 3/5/8 spent 5 nights at the lake house in late summer. The property is spectacular and the house is charming and more than adequate. If you’re looking for a 5 star resort then your expectations probably won’t be met. However, if you’re looking for a great lake house this place fits the bill and then some. The dock and waking bridge are magnificent. The property and waters are teeming with wildlife. Swimming, jumping, floating, boating, fishing galore. The house is well appointed and nautically themed. The design of the home and it’s windows really brings the outside in. The views are spectacular and the sunsets are even better. The kids enjoyed the private island and it was a real treat to watch the Osprey family fish! We will definitely return!
