We planned a small visit of the Christmas holiday and were thrilled by the location, amenities, and overall stay. We have stayed in the same area about 4 times, but this one was the most pleasant of all of them. We absolutely loved sitting by the fire, watching ducks on the canal while listening to the surf just over the dunes. Did I say perfect location? Even the horses agreed as they spent a great deal of time on the property. Host was more than friendly and wonderfully accommodating. Thank you for making our Christmas!!

Amazing place, the horses were around or on the property nearly every day! Lots of other wildlife as well. This cottage has everything you need to enjoy your stay, all of the comforts of home! Sherry and Jeff are great hosts, we came in during a tropical storm and they were super flexible, allowing us in early for low tide. Each trip to and from the house is an adventure! Lots to do both on and off the property. Spotless clean and comfortable and just enough space for the 4 of us. Off the beaten path but so worth it!! We will return! There is nothing like Carova. Thank you for the personal touch with the anniversary wine. This was an incredible opportunity to make amazing memories!

The Dew Drop Inn is a beautiful cottage. All the conveniences of home and then some. The location was perfect for us. Loved the short drive to the 4x4 beach. What a great time we had. Would absolutely stay here again!!!!

Thank you Sherry, we enjoyed our stay so much at the Dew Drop Inn! Our favorite part was all the outdoor activities and outdoor living space. We saw horses almost every day! Our daughters enjoyed paddle boating and kayaking. We made a fire every night and roasted s’mores. Our dog loved watching the wildlife on the wraparound porch. The cottage was the perfect size for our little family. The beds were comfortable and the cottage was very clean! Sherry has been an amazing hostess and provided us with everything we needed, including extra firewood for last night! Thank you for making our Labor Day vacation so relaxing and perfect! We can wait to come back next summer!

I absolutely loved my stay! This place is nice and hidden and super quiet as a result. Being right on the canal was very cool and provided some good scenery while lounging out back.
Getting to the beach was super easy with the car and the parking passes provided.

Beautiful cottage on the sound in Carova. We’ve been coming to Corolla for 35 years but this is the first time we have stayed in Carova. We loved it. Saw the horses everyday. Short drive to the beach. Cottage is cozy and immaculate. Would love to return!

This is the most incredible place to stay! Truly, the best trip we’ve ever taken. This cottage is a dream home perfect for escaping from the daily hustle and bustle. A quick stop at the grocery on your way in and you don’t need go anywhere else. Wild horse sightings daily. Ocean just a few minutes away. We all left renewed and at peace. A trip to always cherish!

We couldn’t have had a more enjoyable, peaceful visit. The weather was perfect and the wild horses were plentiful. We were simply mesmerized by them swimming daily in the canal and rolling in the grass to dry themselves, walking under the steps to the oak trees to rub on them, and eating grass from the yard and weeds from the canal. We had a perfect view from the porch as not to disturb their wanderings. We were so impressed by the fact that Carova is a place that welcomes the horses in a calm, undisturbed environment. Hopefully, this will always hold true-they deserve to be protected.
Thank you, Sherry and Jeffrey for allowing us to rent your gorgeous cottage. The vintage household items were an added treat to enjoy. Not a detail was overlooked-even with the vintage hook holding the life jackets. There was nothing we needed that you did not provide.
We enjoyed the swings and the Pedal Boat. Our Pedal Boat excursion led to even more horse sightings around the canal! It is beyond me why anyone would go on a horse tour when they could rent your tranquil cottage.
Sherry, we enjoyed meeting and talking to your parents one of the mornings we were there. We plan to visit again one day, and I am glad we rented a four-wheel drive vehicle and did not try to drive my AWD! Thank you again for everything!

House was extremely clean and well stocked, they have everything you would ever need. My family enjoyed the fire pit. Loved the paddle boat. Our dog enjoyed the wrap around porch and the sharkie dog treat jar. Wonderful family vacation memories made that will last a life time. Cant wait for the next OBX Vacay!!! Wow wow wow!!! The property location was amazing! so much wildlife just doing their thing. My husband enjoyed fishing in the sound while I enjoyed the views and the bird’s singing, very peaceful, private and secluded. The Horses greeted us on our first day at the home and said their farewells on our last day. We had so much fun 4x4 on the beach and just driving around looking at all the beautiful horses. Our most memorable experience of our vacation was the night we drove on the beach and we saw a lone horse just walking along the ocean’s edge. Such a magical majestic moment to witness! Thank you to Sherry and Jeff for sharing your charming cottage with us! This vacation will be hard to top!

This cottage has an incredible location, is meticulously clean, and has countless amenities. This is truly a story book setting, with multiple swings, a perfect fire pit, and it even has wild horses grazing in the yard. You can hear the ocean from the phenomenal wrap around deck. Peaceful calls of ducks, whippoorwills, birds, and bullfrogs pulled us from sleep with cheerful morning melodies and sang us to sleep with soft lullabies at night. We cannot wait to return. This is an incredible escape and you will not regret your time spent.

This is our first time staying at Sherry & Jeff cottage and we are anticipating to come back soon. The cottage was cozy, super clean, very well equipped with everything you can think of, indoor and outdoor, very nice decorated, quiet, relaxing it was the perfect place to escape from reality. Located on the canal the views are amazing.
We couldn’t enjoyed the company of the mustang this time but hopefully we can get to see them when we come back.

My husband and I were able to get away for a long weekend and celebrate our 19th wedding anniversary. Although it is February, we had the most wonderful time at this sweet little cottage. This is our 2nd time staying at this house. Very clean, it has everything you could possibly need. Kitchen is fully stocked. The water filter is a great thing to have. Ice maker is very convenient. Love the enclosed porch for our fur baby. Keeps her safe! We walked saw tons of horses and deer, even a couple of squirrels!

My husband and I stayed here for our first wedding anniversary and it's exactly what we hoped for! The house was clean, great location, and perfect for us or a small family! We loved sitting by the canal water and parking on the beach! We had successful fishing, horse visitors, and everything we needed to cook and have a fire! The Dew Drop Inn was the perfect place to get away from the real world with our dogs for our wedding anniversary. The cottage is cozy overlooking a lovely canal. I looked out the window the first morning to see three horses grazing in the yard by the canal and it made the drive there worth it. We had come in the previous evening on the heels of Hurricane Ian. (Not something I would recommend. 😉) Sherry let us know the weather impact on the surf and kept in touch with us. She arranged for us to follow a neighbor home. Honestly, we wouldn't have gotten there without her. Also, we were in an AWD Subaru Forester. While it did get us there and home, it wasn't really a smart choice for the Fall sugar sand and the Ian-angered surf. I'd advise taking the 4x4 recommendation seriously.

Owners very accommodating. Quiet, relaxing cottage on the canal. The horses think so too, they were in either the front or backyard each day. Great paddles boards (2) and a two person kayak. Outdoor shower is a plus. Owners have a nice set up inside and we appreciated the Ninja blender, efficient ice maker, water filtration system, and coffee bar. Thanks for sharing your home.

We had the most amazing experiences and relaxing time. The cottage was perfect for my family of 5. We lived outside kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing and enjoying the daily visits from horses. They visited and even swam several times a day. The beach was the perfect distance for my morning runs and our beach days. The cottage had everything we needed and was clean with an eclectic beach cottage vibe. LOVED everything about our stay! We came to relax and get away from it all. My family did just that! We can’t thank Sherry & Jeff enough for their amazing communication. Our truck wouldn’t start the morning we were supposed to leave and they went above and beyond for us. They contacted the neighbor who was so kind as to help give us a jump. We are so thankful! We have been visiting OBX for over 20 years. This was our favorite trip ever! We will be back time and time again. Thank you so much for sharing this gem with us 😊
