-- The Space --
This 1972 built caboose was purchased from the Illinois Central Railroad after it was decommissioned, went to the Monticello Railway Museum and subsequently moved to this property in 2006. It has since been tastefully renovated with a full bathroom, clawfoot tub and large living area with sink, fridge and microwave. The private deck has a hot tub on it where you can relax and spend time with your favorite person. Staying here feels like stepping into the past where history comes to life with every charming detail.

One of the best things about this property is its proximity to exploration and attractions. You can head deeper into the mountains and visit Woodland Park or down into Colorado Springs within 10 minutes. Some of the highlights close by:

- Pikes Peak - America's Mountain
- Garden of the Gods
- North Pole - Santa's Workshop
- North Slope Recreation Area & Catamount Lakes
- The Broadmoor Manitou & Pikes Peak Cog Railway
- Manitou Incline & Manitou Springs
- Cave of the Winds Mountain Park
- Cheyenne Mountain Zoo
- Catamount Trailhead & Heizer Trail
- Green Mountain Falls
- Old Colorado City
- Glen Eyrie Castle
- North Cheyenne Cañon Park
- Seven Falls

We fully stock the caboose with coffee, tea, seasonings, dishes, soaps, shampoo, conditioner, towels and propane for the BBQ grill. Wi-Fi is provided and the smart TV has a couple paid streaming services logged in and others available.

We don't ask our guests to complete any chores upon checkout so you can make the most of your day.

The living area has plenty of space to cuddle up and read a good book, eat dinner, play games, or watch a movie. The yard on the property has plenty of space for activities.

Whether you're looking for a cozy snowy winter retreat, visiting the mountains to see the fall colors or an adventure filled summer vacation the caboose can make your dreams a reality!

-- Guest Access --
Booked guests and pets enjoy private access to the entire caboose, deck, hot tub and BBQ grill. You are welcome to wander around the 2 acre property and wade in the stream

-- Pets --
We welcome your fluffy friends. If you are traveling with dogs please select "I am traveling with pets" at time of booking to have the pet fee included

-- Other Details --
This is a historic caboose has an evaporative cooler and fan for comfort, not AC. Thanks to the high elevation, shade from surrounding hills and trees and the nearby creek, refreshing air flows naturally at night. These elements combine to make heat a problem only during the hottest days. If you're booking from late Jun - early Aug and are sensitive to heat, check Cascade CO weather and ensure the nighttime lows are not above 65F

What a cute place and what an amazing location! Super clean, easy check in and check out process. It was a nice touch not having a list of cleaning items to attend to.

The caboose was a really cool place to stay! However the description of the property and the pictures are misleading. The caboose is parked about 50 ft from the owners home, just across the driveway. The hot tub is in view of the owners back deck as well, so not a lot of privacy there. There is also another site they rent right next to the caboose for RV/campers, so not a lot of privacy overall. The property is located in a busy fork in the road, so traffic noise was always present. The creek is there, but it is small, very overgrown and hard to access. The caboose was very clean and nice to stay in, but overall I thought the price was far too high for the reality of the location.
