Nestled in Talkeetna, this attractive house for $679 per night is a fantastic option for your next break. COVID UPDATE: We follow State of Alaska Guidelines for being able to host you and honor your health and well-being along with our Staff. Our Cleaning Staff is trained in the stringent updated cleaning protocols mandated by the State of Alaska along with further recommendations from the CDC and VRBO. Email us if you'd like to see our updated protocols. Belle's Cabin prime location right on Main Street in beautiful downtown Talkeetna coupled with the historic attraction makes Belle's a perfect place to stay. We are located within steps to ALL major attractions. No driving required, EVERYTHING is within walking distance. Surrounded by beautiful gardens and lush landscaping, your stay will be very private and quiet. We feature luxury mattresses and premium bedding. Two nicely-appointed bedrooms offer Queen beds while the third bedroom has a bunkbed (full on bottom + twin on top) plus an additional twin for a total of 8 guests. The larger spacious bathroom in the new addition has a full tub/shower and the other bathroom in the original cabin has been renovated to modern standards with a wide shower, toilet and vanity. A full kitchen allows for meal preparations. The kitchen is part of the original 1918 Belle McDonald cabin but has all modern appliances, including oven, coffee maker, coffee, tea selection chest, and a small (not full size) refrigerator. With all the delicious restaurants within walking distance you may not find yourself cooking much... also there is no TV at Belle's Cabin. The gardens have been loved and cared for over the years and in summer bursts with gorgeous flowers of many varietals and a large assortment of peonies. Some of the peonies in the garden are the first ever recorded grown from seed at this high latitude. Dating back to 1918, Belle's Cabin was originally owned by Belle McDonald, an indomitable, hardworking trading post operator who lived in Talkeetna for over 40 years. A large addition to the cabin was recently added and designed with modern standards which complement the original historic structure. After Belle McDonald, Roberta Sheldon made this cabin her home. Roberta lived in Talkeetna 50 years, authored two local bestselling historic books, and was the wife of Don Sheldon, who was known as one of the world's foremost mountain-glacier pilots. Don's air rescues, pioneering flights, mercy missions, and everyday adventures are recounted in many books, on The Discovery Channel, and in numerous articles including National Geographic, LIFE Magazine, The New York Times, Reader's Digest and Sports Illustrated. Roberta and Don Sheldon owned & operated Talkeetna Air Service until 1975, when Don died of cancer. The local Sheldon Community Arts Hangar was the base of operations for Don; it housed his airplanes, mechanical and woodworking shops, stored an extensive collection of climbing gear he loaned, and hosted many of the early mountaineers who pioneered climbing routes on Mt. McKinley/Denali, and was known as the Sheldon Sheraton. Although Belle's Cabin is located on Main Street it remains a quiet retreat due to the positioning of the house and the lush landscaping. It is truly a gem of a property that will add to the memories you make exploring Talkeetna and the grandeur of Alaska.

Location is amazing and the property is so very unique! Their are a couple only thing they need to attend to for example they need a gathering place outside like a fire pit and the refrigerator is broken so they have a tiny one inside, but this is not practical for the amount of food to store for a family and the drain in the bathroom shower does not drain properly. Other than that the place was nice!

I can't recommend this house highly enough. It was very clean and well stocked with supplies, including coffee and snacks. The location just steps away from Main Street is unbeatable. Despite the proximity to the main drag, the house is very quiet.

Perfect historic spot.
Perfect location with an interesting history presented in the entrance area. The blending of the old and new architecture is very aesthetically pleasing. We had to ask the shopkeeper about the location since it does not have a street front entrance( Who was very friendly and helpful).

Perfect cabin right off Main St
Belle’s cabin was the perfect place for our family to decompress each day. It’s in the perfect location right off Main St- with lots of shops and restaurants. It’s also very close to the river. The cabin had all the amenities needed with luxury linens, making each night restful. Our family of 6 was very comfortable.

Belle of the Ball
Our thirteen day Alaskan adventure would not have been complete without our brief stay in Belle’s Cabin. It was perfect for our family of five.
Located in the heart of quaint Talkeetna, we were thrilled to be steps from shops and restaurants. The cabin itself was beautiful, pristinely maintained, and quintessential Alaska. It oozed charm and warmth. Communication from the Sheldon family was responsive and smooth. Both Marne and Kate were extremely helpful in offering recommendations on restaurants and providing assistance with a few of our travel logistics.
The highlight of Belle’s Cabin, however, is its family’s storied past as pioneers and builders of Talkeetna. We were privileged to meet Robert and Marne Sheldon and one of their sons, Ryan. They were beyond welcoming and we felt honored to hear about the family's remarkable history and their place in continuing its incredible tradition.

Beautiful Historic Cabin In The Heart of Talkeetna
You couldn’t ask for a better place than Belle’s Cabin in the quaint little town of Talkeetna. This cabin has everything you need and feels like home when you walk in. This is our second time in Belle’s Cabin and we will diffenitly be back. We have traveled all over Alaska and this town and Cabin is our Favorite !!!! So sad we couldn’t stay longer but already looking forward to our next trip here.

Belle's Cabin was best place during our 2 week trip
Traveling with 5 adults and a 1 year old we all agreed at the end of the trip that this was the best place we stayed during our two weeks in Alaska. It was walking distance to everything in Talkeetna and unlike other properties, didn't have a million rules on staying there or high cleaning fees and deposit. We enjoyed reading all the history they have on the walls. We felt so comfortable here and will stay here again next time we visit Alaska.

Rustic outside, modern inside. Lots of history on the Sheldon family. Close to all the action, plenty of parking space. NO Tv. Love it! Go outside in all the long hours of daylight and explore Talkeetna and Denali

wonderful cabin
Extremely well maintained and cleaned cabin, also very well supplied. One has to remember that the refrigerator is not a full size one so refrigeration space is limited. Our party of 6 had plenty of space to feel comfortable. Talkeetna is a very interesting little town full of history. Bell's cabin is full of history itself. The owner are just a phone call away if any problem arise.
We enjoyed our stay in Alaska enormously.
