About this cabin rental
Situated in Dorrington, this charming cabin for $285 per night is a fantastic choice for your next trip. Welcome to Squirrel's Nest! This beautifully appointed 2,100 square foot, 2 story cabin with central heat has an open floor plan with vaulted ceiling and 3 bedrooms, 3.5 baths total including 2 master suites and a large loft. The kitchen features granite countertops, stainless steel appliances and double ovens. The first primary suite is located on the main floor with a king bed and has private access onto the deck. This bathroom has a shower and jacuzzi tub. The second primary bedroom is upstairs, also with a king bed. This bathroom has a shower-tub combo. The third bedroom is upstairs with a queen and twin bunk bed (can sleep 4 in this room). Additionally, the loft has a queen sleeper sofa, double futon, foosball, air hockey and a mini pool table. Charcoal BBQ available year round for guest use. (Guests should bring their own charcoal). Deck and patio overlooks the forested backyard. The living room has a gas fireplace, in addition to central heating throughout. During the summer months, you'll have full access to Big Trees Village Recreational Center. Only minutes from Bear Valley Ski Resort, Lake Alpine, Spicer Reservoir, and Calaveras Big Trees State Park. There's something to do year-round! Squirrel's Nest is the perfect retreat for relaxation or to fulfill all your outdoor adventure desires. Access Information: You will receive check-in instructions, including your access code for entry, 2-4 days prior to your scheduled arrival date. Please be sure to check your junk/spam email, as sometimes these instructions end up there. Pet Policy: This cabin is not pet friendly - If a pet is brought to a non-pet friendly cabin, there will be a $1,000 fee charged to card on file. Audio/visual cameras are on site (exterior only). Tenant must be at least 25 years old to rent. Communication: Property management will contact tenant by their preferred method of communication (personal email, text, etc.) to send a required rental agreement, check-in instructions, etc. Payment (where applicable): A 2% surcharge (of the total transaction amount) will be added to your transaction charges when your credit card is charged. Upon booking, $300, plus the c/c fee, is due immediately and is charged to the credit card on file. The balance is due 30 days prior to arrival (if you are booking a stay that is sooner than 30 days from the booking date, the full amount is due immediately & will be charged to your card on file). We will accept payment by check for the final payment, as long as your arrival date is further out than 45 days. If you wish to pay by check, please email our office immediately to advise us NOT to charge your card on file for the final payment. Please note that if your check is not received by the 30 day mark, your credit card on file will be charged, regardless of previous arrangement. All payments are due in full 30 days prior to your arrival.

The cabin was very nice. It is advertised as sleeping 11, but that is a bit of a stretch. Fortunately only 7 of were able to come and it was perfect for 7. I am not sure but maybe one of the couches made out into a bed. The kitchen was modern and well equiped. It was nice to have so many bathrooms. Everything was clean except the sheets on one of the beds had not been washed and smelled of BO. But inspite of that I highly recommend it. It was very quiet and peaceful there. Very little traffic going by and it was a holiday week.

This was the perfect house/cabin for 3 couples; each of us had our own room and bathroom. The kitchen is big and very well equipped, and we enjoyed cooking in it. The living area is very open with a comfortable sectional and a nice conversation area with two comfy chairs in front of the cozy fireplace. There was a small visual safety issue on the stairs that could be fixed with simply placing a small area carpet on the area, 2 cleaning/maintenance issues, and only one outdated hairdryer, but after our trip, all were reported to the owners for future renters. These did NOT affect our enjoyment of this beautiful property!!! Wonderful location for walking in the neighborhood, too! We'll be back!

Loved the cabin location and layout. Not happy about the closet situation. The master bedroom had no closet to use. No where to hang clothes, put shoes, store luggage. I had to hang my clothes in the utility closet. I know this is the owners right but they are not taking the renters into consideration. Also the throw rugs and area rug under the couch are a nuisance. You trip on them all the time. The seat covers on the dining chairs are a joke. They come off all the time. The cleaning needs to be done more thoroughly. The carpet under the couch and behind the chest looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in awhile. The patio lights were out but the management company fixed them right away. Sheila was very nice and helpful but I think the owners need to update some things.

Make sure you go to Dorrington Realty for the keys. I went to Big Trees in Arnold at first because that was the original confirmation. You also have to make your own beds which might surprise people.

We had a wonderful week at Squirrel's Nest! It had plenty of room for our family of 5 to spread out and relax.
We really appreciated the garage and that the neighborhood had plowing services. We were able to drive up to Bear Valley 3 days straight to ski and go tubing.

We had 3 couples staying here and the house was wonderful for us! The description of the house was accurate. It was clean and well-maintained. We had everything that we needed. The management provided good customer service. A couple of our people went cross-country skiing at Bear Valley. We were able to take some nice walks around the neighborhood. We have been to Snowshoe restaurant and always enjoy their beer and food. Appreciated the fireplace! It's not far from the Big Trees State Park, which we have been to and enjoyed.

The rental is very much in line with the description. My family of 6 adults, 2 kids had a great time here, with plenty of space. The surroundings is beautiful with lots of trees, quiet neighborhood. The check in process was clear, convenient lockbox pick up on the road up to the cabin. The house overall was definitely clean, but given the pandemic, we did a quick walk through before unpacking and found the floors to be really dirty; with a crawling baby, that was a problem for us. Otherwise, the house was great, well equipped, and well located. The managing company was also very nice and responded well to our requests/questions.

ADVERTISED AS A NOT PET FRIENDLY HOME
SENT A SEPARATE REVIEW BUT TO SUMMARIZED MY REVIEW...THIS HOME IS NOT A PET FRIENDLY HOME. OWNERS OR SOMEONE WHO LIVED THERE HAS PETS AND I HAVE PICTURES TO PROVE. MY DAUGHTER AND MY GRAND KIDS WERE MISERABLE THE ENTIRE 4 NIGHTS BECAUSE THEY WERE VERY ALLERGIC TO PET DANDER. THEY HAD TO TAKE TWICE A DAY ANTIHISTAMINE. THE MAN WHO I TALKED TO FIRST SAID HE WAS NOT THE PROPERTY MANAGER THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE NEXT DAY HE WAS THE PROPERTY MANAGER SAID THAT FOR SURE NO PETS WERE ALLOWED IN THAT HOUSE. BTW THIS MAN WHO IS SUPPOSEDLY A PROPERTY MANAGER WAS NOT FRIENDLY AT ALL! IN ONE OF OUR CONVERSATION ON THE PHONE HE SLAMMED THE PHONE ON ME...NO CUSTOMER SERVICE ETIQUETTE.
THE FOLLOWING DAY WE FOUND OUT THAT ONE OF THE OWNER'S CLOSET DOOR WAS LEFT UNLOCKED AND WHAT DID WE SEE ANIMAL BOWLS AND TONS OF ANIMAL FOOD. ALSO THE FIRST NIGHT WE WERE THERE MY DAUGHTER PICKED UP A CRACKER THAT FELL IN THE CARPET AND WHEN SHE WIPED THE CARPET THE NAPKIN USED TO WIPE WERE FULL OF WHITE PET FUR. NOT GOOD!!! I SURE HOPE NEXT TIME THAT WHEN YOU ADVERTISE THAT A VRBO IS NOT A PET FRIENDLY HOME TO MAKE SURE THAT THE OWNERS DO NOT HAVE PETS OF THEIR OWN THAT STAYED IN THAT PARTICULAR HOUSE. WE AS RENTERS ALWAYS ASSUMED THAT NO PETS ALLOWED MEANS THE HOUSE FOR SURE THAT NO PETS STAYED IN THAT PARTICULAR HOUSE.
PROPERTY MANAGERS AND OWNERS SHOULD BE MORE TRUTHFUL BECAUSE FAMILY THAT ARE SUPER ALLERGIC TO ANIMAL DANDER LIKE US CAN END UP TAKEN TO AN EMERGENCY WHICH WILL NOT ONLY RUIN OUR VACATION BUT COULD BE LIFE THREATENING.
BTW WE DID WASH ALL LINENS AND SHEETS SOON AS WE FOUND OUT THAT IN FACT THERE WERE ANIMALS LIVING IN THAT HOUSE.
SHEETS WERE ALSO MADE OF A CHEAP SILKY MATERIAL THAT SLIPS AND SLIDES EVERY TIME YOU MOVE, VERY UNCOMFORTABLE!!!
I WILL RATE THIS AS A 2 STAR SINCE THE LOCATION WAS GOOD BUT OVERALL A 1 STAR!
