Downtown Private Home With Backyard
About this house rental
Situated in Los Altos, this attractive house for $263 per night is a great option for your next trip. 2 bedroom, 1 bath, 700 sq ft (65 sq meters). Front bedroom has a Single over Queen bunk bed and a small walk-in closet. Back bedroom has a Queen bunk bed with a Single pull-out trundle (so 2 physical beds). Room is tight with Single trundle pulled out. A total of 4 beds (2 Queens and 2 Singles). Living Room has a small flat screen TV. There is wireless internet access and Sports/Movies cable TV. The private backyard is large enough for outdoor dining. Depending on the time of year, you can help yourself to fresh oranges or loquots, from our fruit trees. Our home is a short 3 block walk to downtown Mountain View's Castro St with hundreds of restaurants of every nationality. We're also a short walk to the Steven's Creek Trail, as well as CalTrain (a Baby Bullet train stop to San Francisco and San Jose) and Light Rail. Close to highways CA85, US-101, CA237 and I-280 (although you can't see or hear any of them). Close to Google, LinkedIn, Microsoft, Facebook, Apple, and many other high-tech companies. Less than 6 miles to Stanford University and Stanford Hospital and less than 2 miles to El Camino Hospital. Although close to so many things, this home is still on a very quite residential street. We know because we live right next door to this listing. If you're doing anything that may create excessive noise or any problems for the neighbors, then we're confident this is not the listing for you. Thanks for understanding. If you have any issues with check-in and check-out times or any special requests for your arrival, please just let us know. Some friends from the East Coast cannot start a day without Dunkin' Donuts coffee. Not just any coffee, it has to be their brand. Caf or Decaf? Soy milk or Half-n-half? If you have a request, just let us know and we'll do our best to accommodate you. We look forward to hearing from you, and we hope you'll decide right now to at least reach out to us with an inquiry. With the summer demand in downtown Mountain View, we usually rent this home to one Guest for the full 3 months of Jun/Jul/Aug. So PLEASE do not make a reservation request for that period for any shorter than 2 months. You can feel free to send us an inquiry and we can update you, but PLEASE do not send an actual reservation. -Anne and Mike

Our host was very response and helpful with questions we had about the home and the area. The Property is in a neighborhood with many lovely sidewalk streets and is close to Castro Street (many restaurants). Highly recommend for a Mountain View visit.

Mike (and Anne) were great host’s and made us feel so welcome. They were very forthcoming and kept us informed about everything concerning the house and the area. We could wish for no more. The location is great with restaurants and cafes is walking distance. Thank you Mike and Anne!

This sweet house was perfect for our stay in Mountain View. It had charm, comfy beds, a well equipped kitchen, was located on a lovely street in a lovely neighborhood, and walking distance to a lively street (Castro street) with shops and yummy restaurants. On top of that communication with the owners was so great and timely… plus they took care to have the little things in place that made you feel welcome… for one, nice towels hung and ready for use… just like you would have for guests in your home…
I was also delighted that the TV worked easily, without a lot of study and effort :))
We look forward to staying here again when we are in the area :)

This property has great walkability to restaurants, bars, drug stores and more. The accommodations are simple but adequate for a renter needing a central “home-base” in the area.

We had a great experience renting from Mike (and Anne) for an overnight with friends after seeing a show at Shoreline. The home is small with basic amenities, but is cute and clean with a lovely yard in a great neighborhood. Mike was easy to communicate with, flexible with our arrival and departure time, and welcomed us when we arrived. Highly recommend!

This two bedroom house is in an ideal location if you want to enjoy a visit to Mountain View. It is in a quiet neighborhood, and yet it is only a five minute walk to Castro Street, where you'll find a number of excellent restaurants. Plus it's only a fifteen minute drive excellent several excellent nature preserves (e.g. Rancho San Antonio).
The house itself is clean and very comfortable. The owners are affable and close by. What more could you ask for?

We rented the Dana St property for a month in summer as an escape from our hot summer back at home. We used it as a base for all our activities in the Bay Area ( Monterrey, SF, San Jose, Oakland are all A short drive away) . The place is a cute house in a perfect walkable (the gold standard for walkable) neighborhood. The Castro street restaurants are a 5-10 minute walk. The awesome farmers market comes twice a week. The house is small but we found it worked perfect for our family of four. There is a nice backyard patio to lounge or workout in the morning. We didn’t realize when we first booked that there was no drive way, but there is always plenty of parking. Mike was always very attentive and helpful. We would definitely stay here again if the opportunity arose. I think the house is reasonably priced for the excellent, safe and walkable neighborhood. The house is older but everything worked well. I am confident that if anything did not work the owner would be very attentive to get it working again. We never had any issues during our stay.

If you're looking for a quaint cottage that is literally a 5 min walk (probably less) to Castro St. in Mountain View, you can't beat this! It's a brief stroll to the pastry shop and Icicles (yum!) Working with Mike was a breeze. The beds and couch were comfortable. Parking was never a problem. I can't wait to come back. :)

Location excellent. Convenient to Downtown restaurants, Farmer’s Market, Public Library, CVS, Civic Center and Shoreline Park on the SF Bay. Every freeway is close. Old world charm and gentrified neighborhood.

Great communication with the owners throughout the stay. Walking distance to everything in Mountain View - cafes, restaurants… and only 2.5 miles from the Shoreline Amphitheater. The house is quaint and simple which met our needs. My only complaint would be the bed frames were a little squeaky and I’m a light sleeper. Otherwise great!

I stayed here with my sons (ages 3 and 6) on our annual ballpark trip. This was our home base for our ballgame and other excursions and we loved it. The neighborhood is so lively and quiet at the same time. Very beautiful area. The house was simple and clean and the communication with the owners was fantastic. Will stay here again if I’m in the area for work or play. A perfect little charming place to relax and recharge or use a home base for going out and about. Loved it.

Great location near everything
We needed a base while our daughter attended swim camp at Stanford University. It only took twenty minutes to get there each morning.
The house is located in a wonderful neighborhood within walking distance of everything in Mountain View. The house was comfortable and well equipped.
Mike and Anne are excellent hosts. Not being familiar with the area, we followed their suggestions on dinning and couldn't have been happier. With so many places to choose, this really made it easy.
We hope to return for another Stanford swim camp so we can stay with you in Mountain View again.
Thank you!

This place is great for a stay in Mountain View. Pros 1. Easy access to downtown Mountain View with lots of great bars and restaurants only 3-4 blocks away.2. 4-5 blocks to Cal Train so you can enjoy the weather in the South Bay, but also easy access to a Giants game.3. Easy access to 280 or 101 to get up to the city or to the airport.4. The owner Mike was right next door and was quick to respond to anything. Very accommodating.Cons1. No dishwasher for our week long stay hand washing got old.2. No central AC most of our stay this was fine, but the last two days the house got very hot and the widow AC unit only cooled the front bedroom. Also several of the windows would not stay open.3. The backyard could be a big positive for this place, but it was not in good shape lots of debris in the yard and some of the furniture was broken. All in all a good place that could be great with some updates.

Had all we needed in the perfect location.
We came with two kids for a family gathering. Loved walking to Castro for dinner, sitting in the backyard, and slept great in the queen bottom bunk (the kids LOVED the top bunks). Owners were great. Also the house has good internet speed in case you need to do work. We would stay again!

Perfect Spot To Stay in Mountain View
This immaculate bungalow in the heart of Old Mountain View is a short walk from Castro Street, the place to go for good restaurants and culture. The house itself is beautifully restored with a delightful ambiance. There is ample free parking on the street in front and if you like walking, you are only five minutes from the Stevens Creek path. In back of the house there is cozy backyard with a orange tree which, if you are lucky enough to be there in the right season, has the best navel oranges you will ever taste. The hosts are friendly, helpful, and available.

Perfect place to stay and perfect hosts to make even better!
What an ideal setup this was for me. I was traveling alone on business, and from my first email inquiry, no detail was ignored. Mike and Anne responded to my questions and requests--even accepted a box I had shipped ahead of time!-- with a generous, helpful spirit. Mike even volunteered commute time information which kept me right on track!
Now... to the home...picture a beautiful tree-lined street just three blocks off Castro Street, the coolest, best restauranted street you can imagine. You park on the curb in front of the house, so coming and going is a breeze. (Parking was never an issue either). It's a lovely are--just beautiful, quaint, charming and everything NON hotel you can imagine.
I was welcomed by Mike, who had opened the house to coordinate with my arrival, showed me around, and then left me to my quiet. (It was another perfect thing! He responded to emails in about 5 minutes, but left me to my peace and tranquility.)
Other great things:
Vintage everything--it was like staying at Grandma's house
Beautiful bottle of wine to welcome me
Coffee and a coffee maker at the ready!
All the bathroom stuff I needed
Cozy and quaint, but plenty of areas to work, eat, watch tv, and on and on.
SUPER GREAT WI-FI connection. Unlike home, I NEVER lost connection.
This is a no-brainer if you're in the Bay Area. I found it easy to get EVERWHERE-- I'll be back!
Thanks for a great time in a great home!

Perfect fit for our purposes
The property is a quaint, old, small house of the classic mid-20th century California variety. It's compact and simple, but is very clean, well maintained, and shockingly convenient. If you are coming to the Bay Area for work in Silicon Valley or to visit relatives on the peninsula or south bay, you would be hard to do better. 5 minute walk to Castro's street bustling restaurant scene. 7 minute walk to CalTrain, proximity to central expressway, 101, 85, and 280. How could you do any better?
The house has all of the modern conveniences and decently stocked kitchen. Since its 2 bedrooms, the bedding is "maximized" by having the hybrid bunk arrangements in both rooms (double on the bottom, one on top). Families and larger groups will find it very convenient. The owners live in a similar house next door, which may be a real bummer of you were going to throw a keg party, but works really well in terms of any needs, questions, help, etc. They were very respectful of our privacy, but communicated via email throughout the stay to inquire if all was well.
The neighborhood is old style, quaint residential. There is plenty of available street parking and all is pretty quiet and calm.
An enthusiastic thumbs up!!

Great stay in Mountain View
The apartment is right in the heart of mountain view, just a few blocks away from downtown/castro st., close also to the Caltrain Station but it´s a quiet, friendly and easy accessible neighborhood. It is well suited for a small family or two couples, it has a nice open kitchen/living room situation and a backyard. Cooking is easy with a fine gas oven, there are lots of plates, pots, pans and silverware, also a well sorted spice rack was very helpful. When coming in, a nice bottle of wine and some of our favorite gourmet coffee were already waiting - what a nice surprise! Mike and Anne had loads of advice and responded quickly to any of our questions, before and during our stay. In short: 5 stars, would order again :-)

Great Experience
Our reason for visiting Mountain View was to celebrate the occasion of our first grandchild. This was made all the more pleasurable by the very nice property we rented from Mike and Anne at 416 W Dana. The location was prefect-easy walking distance to downtown, Central Expressway and major highways. It is also in a very nice neighbourhood. Upon arrival we were very pleased to find a very clean and well appointed house with a great backyard.
Mike and Anne couldn't have been more friendly or helpful.
Overall, it came as advertised and suited our needs perfectly. It truly had all the benefits of home.
We would readily recommend this property to friends and plan to rent again when next in Mountain View

Charming house in Mountain View
We are relocating to Silicon Valley and stayed here for 10 nights while looking for a place to live. The house is well-equipped, especially the kitchen, and is a quick walk to downtown Mountain View where there are plenty of restaurants. The owners happily and quickly accommodated several special requests and we very much enjoyed the plentiful oranges from the beautiful tree in the backyard. We would be glad to rent this house again.

Excellently equipped and located and wonderful hosts.
We loved our time at the house. Very conveniently located for downtown Mountain View and freeways. Comfortable and with everything we needed and more. The owners were considerate and extremely helpful - especially accommodating towards our two young kids. And let us pick oranges from the tree in the garden.
Very quickly felt like home which is just what we hoped for.
