About this bed and breakfast
Located in Whanganui, this lovely bed and breakfast for $84 per night is a fantastic option for your next trip. This Guest House is located very close to the CBD, and many attractions in and around wanganui. The river itself is the longest navigable river in New Zealand, and offers jet boat tours and more gentler rides on the Waimarie paddle steamer, the last remaining in New Zealand. The river attracts cyclists, hikers ,canoeists,and day trippers. The Sarjeant Gallery holds more than 5,500 art works from the 1840's to the present day. The regional museum is famous for its Taonga Maori Collection, second to none in Aotearoa. There is the Durie Hill Elevator and Tower, Glass blowing exibitions and gallery , Farmer's market , mountain to sea cycle trails, observatory and much loved childrens play ground. Throughout the year there is the masters games, street motorcycle racing, V8 jet boat sprints, opera week, Vintage weekend where every thing from the bygone era is on display. Not forgetting the ski slopes are only 1and 1/2 hrs away. Special conditions: We have had requests from prospective guests, who are allergic to dogs, to stay at Charmae.To be fair to everyone here is a list of local Dog Kennels that will be happy to look after your cats and dogs, when you visit Whanganui. A lovely home situated near all the amenities. For 8-9 ppl there was enough space indoor and out suited for our family holiday. Suited purpose at a very reasonable rate. Vinaka vaka levu.

It is clear by the amenities and little touches that the hosts are very interested in ensuring that their guests are comfortable and feel at home. Thank you for the tinfoil - we hope you enjoyed the pie.

Allan and Kathy have a beautiful guest house that is well located and feels like a home away from home. We really enjoyed staying at Charmae and highly recommend their guest house. Allan and Kathy are wonderful kind hosts. They welcomed up warmly and the house has little things that most places wouldn't think of like cotton buds, coffee, and sugar crystals! We stayed five nights in total, so on our return back through Wanganui, they even remembered my mum couldn't have the electric blanket plugged in - extremely thoughtful. It's the little things that really made us feel welcome.
We also had car trouble. Allan and Kathy were so kind and helpful and even arranged for us to stay another night so we could get the car fixed and travel home safe.
We really recommend staying at Charmae and are ever grateful to Allan and Kathy.

Our stay was amazing. The home was equipped with everything you could possibly need. The property owners were very welcoming and had organised everything for our arrival. Nothing was to much of an ask and they went above and beyond to make us comfortable. Great location central to everything. Our family had a place to unwind and relax after adventuring around Whanganui. Thank you to the owners for making our holiday a memorable one. Highly recommended.

We enjoyed our stay and the house is as listed. Only complaint were the mattresses on the single beds. Might be okay for children, but not good for adults. All 4 adults that stayed in single beds complained. Other than that the property was perfect and the continental breakfast was a thoughtful addition.

This is an amazing place, especially to host a bigger group of people, nice warm house with lots of space. Owners are very helpful if needed and also give you privacy for your stay. Will be staying here again :)

This was a great place to stay. We were coming to Whanganui for a funeral and needed to book accommodation for the first time as all our family’s homes were full. In my angst I somehow managed to book the wrong dates but the hosts were incredibly understanding and went to great lengths to ensure the house was ready for us on the actual days we needed it. It was very clean and warm and welcoming, had everything we needed ( more, really) and gave us a lovely quiet space to retreat to during an emotional time. And it turned out to be really well sited for us as well. Thank you for a great stay - would absolutely recommend!!
