About this house rental
Nestled in Au Sable Charter, this charming house for $397 per night is a great choice for your next vacation. This 2200 s.f. beachfront home is set deep into a private wooded lot on 80' of gorgeous sugar sand Lake Huron Beach. This recently updated home includes a fully equipped kitchen, dining area (seats 8), family room with natural fireplace, living room, and 4 bedrooms (master with king, #2 bdrm with queen, #3 bdrm with queen bed, and a bunk room that sleeps 4 - please note that this room is an open concept). The master bdrm, living room, family room, dining area and kitchen all have SPECTACULAR views of Lake Huron. There is so much to offer with this rental! It's on the waterfront with shallow clear water and tons of sugar sand! From this perfect location you can stroll along the sandy beach or lounge and relax. The site is in line with a large sand reef and is shallow for several hundred feet with numerous sandbars - great for young swimmers and water games. Minutes from canoeing, great golf courses, shopping, antiques, and numerous state park attractions. Just 3 miles North in Oscoda there are restaurants, ice cream parlors, a movie theater, putt putt golf, bowling, and the Oscoda city park. To the South 8 miles is East Tawas. There is much to offer in East Tawas too! A beautiful park, great restaurants, shopping, the pier, Marion's Ice Cream Parlor and so much more. The Gailes at Lakewood Shores - One of the best golf courses in Michigan, listed in the top 10, is just a few miles away. If you enjoy golfing this is one you don't want to miss out. Amenities: Fire pit on beach, volleyball, boccie ball, basketball net, gas grill, & patio furniture. Bumper pool is located in the bunk room. What a wonderful home, great location with the beach just outside the back door. The kitchen was well stocked with all you would need for preparing most meals. Beds were very comfortable, as were the living room furniture. Having two bathrooms worked out well for our group. Plenty of towels and bedding.
Looking forward to heading back in Spring or Late summer.

Our family recently enjoyed staying at this lovely cottage. It is well appointed with a lot of nice amenities. There was plenty of seating, which was appreciated as we have stayed at places where the main living and dining areas do not seat the number of people the house sleeps.
The decor is tasteful and relaxing. The house is open with a lot of space to spread out for a larger family. The house is much roomier (main rooms) than the listing photos show.
The owner is very accommodating and helpful and very quick to respond to any question. Easy, no nonsense check-in and check-out procedures.
The weather was fairly cold and windy with some rain during our stay so we didn't spend a lot of time on the beach. It's a nice beach with soft sand and we came away with some beach glass, some fossils and some shells to remember our trip by.
Don't hesitate to stay in this lovely cottage. A couple of caveats for future guests: If you are planning on eating in for most of your stay; there are no empty cupboards in the kitchen to store food. The master bedroom closet is large and I used that as my pantry for our stay. The seating in the main living area is low and soft, hard to get out of for "mature" guests.
The sunrises were bright and beautiful. That said, it might be a nice addition to add filtering blinds or shades to the main living room windows to soften the effect of the sunlight.

We had a wonderful visit! The property is great and they had everything we needed and more. My husband loved using the kayak and my kids loved cuddling on the couch watching movies at night.

(Though the two smaller bedrooms are pretty small and a little stuffy, but the primary bedroom is big with AWESOME beach views.) AND DO NOTE: the owners don’t provide beach chairs (they really should) though you can drag the big, heavy Adirondack chairs from the fire pit; AND—I’ve never before stayed at a high-end rental like this that didn’t provide you with all the basic supplies you need for day-to-day living: You have to bring your own toilet paper and your own garbage bags!! What??!!? The owners could definitely afford to make the house a little more user-friendly as far as that goes—maybe even providing things like shampoo and beach towels?! It was enough of an inconvenience that we will likely check out other houses in the area for next summer, though we’d consider renting this one again if the price drops a little…

We thoroughly enjoyed our June 2023 family stay at Ervin’s Escape. The home is beautiful and clean! The open layout is fantastic and provided plenty of room for 8 adults and 2 children! There are numerous places to enjoy outside to include a hammock, outdoor table seating for 6 (plus additional table on side of house where grill is), and Adirondack chairs around a fire pit. Our kids had a blast using the floating mat with anchor.
We hope to come back next summer!

On a sunny day, walking into that section of the house from the bedrooms made us feel almost like Dorothy opening the door and discovering Oz. The beach was beautiful. Loved being able to walk what seemed like forever in either direction. Equally enjoyable was just relaxing on the beach and watching the passing freighters and other boats. The early October weather was pretty cooperative so we visited some wineries and did a bit of sightseeing - followed immediately by a return to our beach chairs. The squirrel population was a bonus. We'd look up and find one sitting on the window sill seeming to enjoy watching us as much as we enjoyed watching them. All in all, a terrific place for a relaxing vacation.

This is an excellent lake front property about 15 minutes north of Tawas and south of Oscoda. Excellent location to enjoy the beach and have access to amenities in both towns. The house is impeccably clean and tastefully decorated (and very recently renovated). It's spacious and light-filled with plenty of room for a large group to spread out and enjoy everything from beach time to group meals to games and TV. Note that the bunk room is connected to the kitchen via a passthrough window and door with glass panels (has curtains for more privacy); bunkroom would be great for kids/teens! The views of Lake Huron are spectacular! The kitchen is so nicely laid out - a dream for those of us who like to cook! There is tons of counter space for food and supplies. There's a separate bar cart setup too so that folks can prepare drinks and not get in the way of kitchen activities. The house doesn't have a supply of things like plastic wrap, tin foil, baggies, garbage bags, etc, so be prepared to bring your own. On the other, there's plenty of kitchen equipment for cooking for a group. We really enjoyed the beach - it's a great walk south down au sable point, just so beautiful, We had a great stay and are looking forward to returning next summer.

3rd time bringing our family here and cannot say a single bad thing about it - super clean, excellent beach & fire pit, no bugs. The location is great, and layout is super functional. We will be back next year!

The kids enjoyed playing on the beach however while inside the livingroom and dining room are very dark - not enough lights and the kids that stayed in the bunk bed area got spider bites galore. The screens, porch and deck were filled with cobwebs and bugs and the master bedroom smelled very musty even after we opened windows to air it out but overall the house did what it was rented for.

The property is in a quiet location on the shore of Lake Huron. We enjoyed the beach and the views of Lake Huron. Very well maintained and clean. Definitely recommend.

The beach house and overall property was perfect for our family. The online pics do not capture the true beauty and all the house offers. Shelly was very responsive and eager to make sure we enjoyed our stay. We traveled with our adult children and 18 month old granddaughter. We used the beach daily. The patio was my favorite for morning coffee looking at the lake. We ended our nights with fires on the beach. We would definitely love to come back.

Lovely spot for a quiet getaway
We were looking for a relaxing, quiet get away for our 20th wedding anniversary and this rental was a great choice! The home was beautiful, clean and easy to find. We found everything we needed to make meals at “home” as we had planned because during our last visit to the area we struggled to find restaurants we liked. Happy to share that we found some great new restaurants in Tawas this time around! Being right on the beach was lovely. We’d be happy to stay here again!

Awesome place
This is the second time, this year I've stayed at this property. This visit I brought some friends and everyone loved the place. The views of Lake Huron are amazing and the house is comfortable and beautifully decorated. We did manage to drag ourselves away from the view to enjoy a bit of the area. We found some great biking trails and beautiful hiking area's close by. Can't say enough great things about our stay!
