Our stay at MIMARU Kyoto Nijo Castle was absolutely wonderful. Everything was excellent, from the facilities to the location, and the staff were always kind, friendly, and welcoming.
The location was perfect, and we found it to be an especially comfortable and convenient place for a family to stay in Kyoto. The facilities were excellent and made our stay very enjoyable.
We gave a 9 out of 10 for cleanliness—not because the property wasn’t clean, but because there was not much regular cleaning on days other than the ones we specifically requested. Since our children have allergies, this was a little challenging for us. However, whenever we requested cleaning, the staff were very helpful and did an excellent job.
Overall, we were extremely happy with our stay. If we visit Japan again, we would definitely choose to stay with MIMARU again.

Great Location. Staff was super friendly and helpful. The Nijo Castle ticket promotion was an added bonus. An easy walk to Nijo Castle. Also, there is a local market just a few blocks from the hotel. Cafe Bogota for breakfast next to the hotel was wonderful! Very relaxing. The HUGE Nishiki market is about a 15-20 minute easy walk from hotel. Teramachi Street and Shinkyogoku Street markets are also adjacent to Nishiki. Lots of high end shopping and restaurants are also nearby. We spend 1 day exploring Kyoto and 1 day in Osaka before heading out by train to Hiroshima. The Mimaru Luggage Service was amazing. We had a typhoon come through at the end of our stay and the hotel staff was very helpful. They held our luggage, gave us some very sound advice and had all of our suitcases($20/suitcase) delivered to our next hotel on-time with no issues, and kept us informed during the whole process. Very convenient and highly recommend!
Everything was wonderful, but if they run any more promotions (like the Nijo Castle ticket promo), a tea ceremony in Kyoto would be welcome!
