Very Disappointing

We booked this hotel as our final stop of a week long road trip. It is one of my favorite hotels in my favorite area of Cape Town. In the end, the location was the best of this stay.

Do not know where to start. It was VERY disappointing. We got there and were told our room was not ready yet. Came back an hour later and it was still not ready. It was hot and we just wanted to dress into something more suitable. Our room was eventually ready and we were escorted up to it, just to find that the bathroom was not cleaned. The AC also did not have a remote control and did not work. After messing around for a while, maintenance came and fixed the problem with the AC. We went to the beach and to be fair to the staff, they did come and clean the bathroom. They also left a bottle of white wine with an apology note. A nice gesture. However, ordering some drinks at the pool was a disaster. The completely "forgot" the order. At that stage, it felt that everyone was going out of their way to make our stay unpleasant. Even speaking to the staff was a struggle. They were not really interested in solving anything. Despite all promises of escalating any issue, they started avoiding us. Maybe it was not a bad idea, as I was ready to leave. You may expect it from a cheap place, but NOT when you are paying more than $600 per night. The breakfast was also not inline with the price. Not even a omelet/fried egg station. We had better breakfasts at places that were less than half this place price. My advice, rather pay a small amount more and go the the 12 Apostles down the road, which is a true 5 star hotel.

Prime location in Camps Bay, beautiful modern facilities, stunning views from every angle

Being on the main road there is a lot of traffic and noise but the view of the mountain and ocean makes up for it

Exceptional

We only stayed at the property for 2 nights but it was perfect. The staff went above and beyond and were all so incredibly friendly. We had a lovely bottle of wine and dessert wishing us a happy honeymoon which was a lovely touch. We stayed during winter and the weather wasn’t great, but I can imagine during summer this place would be absolutely stunning! The location was fabulous, so central and right on the beach, so many delicious restaurants and bars right outside the property gates, would definitely recommend!

The staff was friendly. Jetaime was amazing and helpful. Great rates from Booking.com and great location. The hotel is homely and welcoming. A definite for our next visit in summer

A great experience

My experience at the The Bay was very good. I stayed in two different rooms and both were large, comfortable and with a beautiful view. The staff were always very attentive. Very good breakfast. Very well located.

It was a shame some parts were under renovation but it didn't affect my stay. I will definitely return.

Not satisfactory. Maybe after renovations and with restaurant staff training things might be better.

Location and views are amazing. Parking and front desk staff are friendly.

Due to the renovations, that no one told us about, and the poor service in the restaurant, our experience were not so good. Food was also not good during our dinner. No one told us about the tennis court and some other facilities. We only saw it during our check-out.

5 star service in a beautiful & vibrant location

location is exceptional. beautiful front of house and rooms fronting the sea front.

minor cosmetic works required in some parts of the hotel and general upgrade in terms of the decor to truly bring it to a full 5 star experience.

Neatness and their omelet was sumptuous

The door locks could have been been better .Batteries of the lock needed to be replaced two times while I was waiting outside the door.I am greatful though that they compensated by taking me to dinner at their expense.

great location, friendly staff and beautiful rooms. I want to call out Peter at the front desk for being exceptional, he stepped in and took charge of a situation for me and did it with charm and professionalism. very grateful.

Great view on Camps Bay

Amazing location in the middle of Camps bay, great breakfast. Pool area has great view on Atlantic ocean We arrived earlier then our check in and we've been helped to get refreshed after the long flight Very good spa which was easy to book

i use a ♿️ and the bathroom was unusable. shower ni grab rails of seat and toilet no rails to grab too. hope this is sorted in future.

Paying for the location not the hotel, not a 5 star, I’ve stayed in better 4 stars

The location was excellent, and that’s what you pay for. Rooms are big and comfortable. Staff are great

It’s the small things, no proper concierge to organise things, there is only one food menu for all the bars etc. and it’s very limited, shower gel / shampoo wasn’t replaced, laundry took longer than it said, pool towels and sunbed fabric getting a bit old and worn

Nice location but poor rooms and service. definitely not value for money when compared to other five star hotels.

The location, so close to the beach very easy walking distance to shops and restaurants as well as a short drive to Cape Town is ideal.

The food was bad, poor quality and choice - especially for room service which basically didn’t function. The overall service was poor, with the reception often over crowded and it taking a long time to be assisted. The bar service was also slow even when there were not many people at the bar. Despite repeatedly requesting that the room be cleaned in the morning as we had young children sleeping they came to clean only at 2pm every day meaning our room was never cleaned. The furniture in the rooms was dated and the smart TVs they advertise didn’t work in any of the rooms. we visited the hotel 15 years ago and had a lovely time so it’s sad to see it go so badly downhill. unless you’re an instagrammer strongly suggest not staying here, no value for money when there are so many wonderful and thoughtful hotels and locations elsewhere in SA. will not be returning.
