The location. The friendly, helpful staff The nice breakfast. The comfy bed. Cleanliness. The price was very reasonable.
The place could do with a bit of renovation but it didn’t have a negative impact on my stay. Would have been nice to have had a ketttle . Then again, I may have got one if I’d asked.

We stayed at Hotel do Chile while visiting Lisbon for the Lisbon Half Marathon. The hotel worked as a base for the trip, but overall it felt closer to a 2-star experience rather than the advertised 3-star.
On a positive note, the reception staff were friendly and helpful, and they handled our issues well. When we raised concerns about our first room, they were quick to move us to another room, which we appreciated.
Unfortunately, the first room had several problems. The room wasn’t what we had booked, we had booked a superior double room with balcony but this was not what we were given and they didn’t have a room available. There was dried mould on the carpet where water had clearly been leaking from the bathroom partition wall into the bedroom area for quite some time. There was also mould around the windows. The room facilities were also disappointing – although there was a coffee pod machine, there were no coffee pods, tea bags, or other basic hot drink options that you would normally expect. The cups also still had lipstick marks on them from previous guests.
The decor throughout the hotel feels quite tired and in need of updating, with paint peeling in several places. One positive was that the shower pressure was very good.
After being moved to a different room on day two (which we were pleased about and the room did have the balcony but it is extremely small, no room for chairs to sit on), we unfortunately still noticed mould around the windows. This suggests there may be an ongoing ventilation issue that needs to be addressed, as both rooms we were given had similar mould problems. Rooms may also benefit from a deep clean (grouting in bathroom particularly)
Breakfast was very basic. The only hot options were eggs and hot dog-style sausages. The cold selection was limited as well, with only two types of cereal, a small selection of pastries and cakes, and just one type of cheese and ham.
The location is not particularly central, but getting around Lisbon is fairly easy using Bolt, Uber, or public transport.
