Explorers Hotel Marne-la-Vallée

Our stay at Hotel Explorer was overall just okay. The hotel itself is nice and family-friendly, but unfortunately, there were some things that could have been better.

The biggest disappointment for us was definitely the breakfast. The choice of savoury food was extremely limited, and there were no basic hot options such as eggs, bacon, sausages, or anything similar. For a hotel of this type, we expected a much better breakfast selection. This was particularly disappointing when travelling with children. We were also not completely satisfied with the housekeeping. On the second day, the room did not seem to be cleaned as thoroughly as expected, and the floor had not been properly vacuumed.

Lots of facilities. The majority of people will obviously be there for Disneyland but if you stayed in the hotel there is genuinely plenty to do. There is a large arcade, swimming with a few slides. The water in the swimming is also lovely and warm although I don't know if it is heated or this is as a result of the sunshine coming through the large glass panels. Either way it was very cosy. There is bowling, a playpark, a shop, a pirate themed candy shop, a restaurant, pizza bar, snack bar and much more. I've missed lots more so check your booking website for a full list. Place is clean enough and staff are friendly.

Lack of air conditioning in the rooms. There is a ceiling fan in the room but all this does is blow hot air about.. Breakfast is absolute chaos. It is a buffet that is far too busy with people constantly bumping in to each other. Every 5 minutes you hear a dish being dropped and smashing on the floor. I'm not even joking. The design and layout of the buffet needs improved as it is genuinely dangerous. Maybe a bit more structure or a one way system? The hotel is advertised with a regular free shuttle bus which takes you to the Disneyland park. I've stayed at the hotel 3 times now over the years so knew what to expect but if you don't then expect there to be times when you physically can't get on the bus due to how busy it is. It's a very large bus and they are every 10 minutes but as it's shared between several hotels there physically isn't enough room on the bus for all passengers. This could be improved but putting on even more buses or split the buses between the hotels i.e. Instead of a single bus servicing hotels 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 have the first bus service hotels 1, 2 and 3 then the next bus servicing hotels 4, 5 and 6 etc. I say this because Explorers Hotel is the 2nd last pickup before Disneyland and the bus can already be full before it even gets there which doesn't seem particularly fair. The last 2 years we've just walked to the park and back again. It takes roughly 25 to 30 minutes but it's a nice walk and far less stressful than the shuttle bus, especially if you have young children and have a buggy.

hotel is big and got Disney shuttle bus every 15 min. The hotel is themed around cartoon characters, pirates, and suitable for children.
