We loved our stay at Hotel Alpina! The people running the hotel are so kind and welcoming. It really made our stay! The location is beautiful, breakfast was delicious, and the beds were comfy. We hope to come back one day!

First of all Kandersteg is charming and this was a pretty decent place to stay over night. The room somehow felt a bit 70’s. Maybe it was the funky yellow/orange bed sheets.
Somewhat similar, silghlty underwhelming, experience compared to all the other chalets we stayed in. No fridge in the room, nor an air con, and toilet was a bit small. I asked in advance, if we could store our luggage there while visiting the Oeschinensee, and they said yes. Turns out you can just dump your stuff in the common area. Felt a bit uncomfortable leaving my laptop and other gear there unattended for the day, but also didn’t want to bring them on the hike.

We booked this accommodation for four people. The two extra beds were located in the attic. This was not an issue for us, but the ladder leading up to the attic is very steep and unsuitable for children or elderly guests. The main problem was the owner's attitude and lack of customer service. We booked through Booking.com and later discovered that hotels in the area provide a guest card that offers discounts at nearby attractions. When we asked for ours, the owner insisted he had already sent it through the Booking.com app. We checked the app and showed him that we had received no messages from him at all, but he refused to accept this and repeatedly said it was not his problem. At one point, he even mentioned that other guests had told him they had not received his messages either, which suggests there may be an issue with the hotel's communication system. Instead of reporting the problem to Booking.com or trying to help, he became defensive and kept saying we were giving him stress. During the conversation, he also made an inappropriate gesture implying that we were trying to "f him over," which was completely unprofessional and unnecessary.After insisting several times, he finally gave us the guest card. However, when we tried to use it at Lake Blausee, it did not work. The next morning, we politely asked him to check the card code, but again he responded dismissively, saying it was not his problem.
We have traveled to more than 35 countries and have never encountered such rude, unhelpful, and disrespectful behavior from a hotel owner. If dealing with guests and helping customers is such a burden, hospitality may not be the right business.
