Very accommodating and friendly staff. Comfortable bed, room, and facilities. The breakfast offered was very satisfying. Travelling with a baby and a pet, we were well taken care of. The hotel / resort is very family friendly, and there were lots of kids and babies around, with activities and facilities catering to them. Immediate and peaceful no-fuss access from the property directly to the beach.
Lots of guests put their towels on the pool chairs to hold them, then they disappear to go to the beach or to eat or something - there were times that the pool area was nearly empty but all the chairs had been "occupied". Discreet signage points out that unoccupied towels will be removed after 45 minutes, but it's unreasonable to expect the staff to track and time every towel situation.
Also, two key cards programmed to our room suddenly stopped working, but reception was extremely friendly and prompt in rectifying the situation. The frustration was only notable because it isn't easy to manage getting locked out with a baby in one arm and a dog in the other hand.

It was all good

Close to the beach, clean and comfy room
Pool area was all concrete. The breakfast buffet area needs a redesign- food was down a narrow corridor and hard to get to with people around. Only 2 coffee machines and they broke both mornings.

We stayed 5 nights at Meliá Zahara Resort & Villas, booking a Premium Room for ourselves and a regular Meliá Room for our two teenage children. One big pool offers everything for 'family fun' - but not so quiet, background music all around the pool. Pool bar where you can order and drink while in the pool was 'nice' - but pouring the famous Sangria just out of a plastic bottle serving with some ice-cubes is beyond what you expect from a 'bar'.
While the hotel is beautifully located with well-maintained grounds, our experience with the Premium Room was disappointing. Despite paying extra, the room was nearly identical to the standard one — in fact, our children’s room had better features like two sinks and a quieter location. And we had bad luck: view to a grey roof with exhausts from the kitchen - change was not possible until 2 nights before our departure due to non availability of any option - also no upgrade for extra payment. Promised extras on this booking platform (not on the hotel page) such as turn-down service and bathrobes were missing.
The staff was friendly and professional, especially at reception and guest experience, and the setting is relaxing. However, the hotel’s tiered setup (Standard / Premium / The Level) seems to stretch its capacity. During high occupancy, Premium guests felt second-tier, with limited space at pools and in dining areas. (much of the space is not accessible for the average guest).
The food was good overall, but for the price we paid, we’ve had noticeably better quality and variety at a comparable hotel just north of here. Two of us are vegetarians who missed more variation (pasta, pizza is always there) but mostly felt unsure on the buffet as descriptions were missing or not accurate.
We really enjoyed parts of our stay, but the Premium upgrade didn’t meet expectations — and that sense of imbalance stayed with us. While the guest experience was very open minded and understanding our point of view but were bound to 'talk' and not 'walk'.
