The Devoncourt Resort

The value for money is ridiculously good, breakfast, leisure facilities, kitchenettes etc. All the staff are lovely. This is my second time visiting and I appreciate it isnt owned by a massive hotel conglomerate like most are now. I would rather give my money to this business. They're great with coeliac options for breakfast, the breakfast staff still remembered me from last year, and never got glutened once. Its right by the beach with a back entrance straight to it, the outdoor pool in the summer is gorgeous, and honestly despite how aged it is I kinda love the fact that its a bit of a time capsule. The reception is also 24 hours. What a hidden gem!!!

I think unfortunately it is in need of quite a bit of maintenance, but I also recognise how expensive it is to do this. I also wish they had a better range of dinner options.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We were given a spacious apartment with a good view of the garden, which itself is absolutely spectacular (especially when it lights up in the evening) During our stay, we were also shown one of the rooms on the second floor, and the views from up there were truly breathtaking! The facilities are old-fashioned but they are really clean, well-maintained, and clearly well-loved. Breakfast was basic but served promptly and was good. Overall, the hotel is old and quirky, but that is precisely what gives it so much charm and character.

Parking can be an issue if you have a large car.

The staff were excellent and the room was comfortable.

The distance from the sea front and from restaurants. We used the bus from outside the hotel.

I have visited before and loved it. Requested double suite but this time no balcony and it was a very hot weekend. The en suite was so tiny as was the kitchen and both no window up steps. There was no fans so very hot and enclosed. Before when I had a double suite the bathroom was separate door but large with window and so was the kitchenette much larger with a window and both on level floor. The hot water failed so we were unable to shower or bath. I did advise reception and a plumber had been called as it failed Friday but not sorted so when we left I asked for compensation. The receptionist could not authorise so I asked her to get the Manager to contact me but so far not heard anything. The staff are very good and of course I understand it’s an old building so things go wrong I was visiting for a wedding and asked for another room to shower but this was not given. I would have liked a balcony as it was very hot and I paid extra for a suite but a fan would have helped. The steps and poky kitchen and en-suite perhaps ok for a young couple but not elderly. The breakfast which we paid extra for was plentiful but they ran out of space Sunday so had to carry further and no glasses for juice just plastic cups. It was not as good and I don’t like to say this but feel anyone visiting need to be given an honest review. Saying that I do like the Devoncourt and the staff are lovely.
