It is a wonderful well kept, immaculate manor and grounds, and generally everything was fabulous from the Valet to the Reception staff, the room facilities and comfort.
Considering this hotel is 'With 4 AA Red Stars, it is one of the top 200 hotels in the country and offers delicious award-winning food'. Both the evening meal and breakfast were overall, disappointing. We were hurried to order our dinner choices while we were taking drinks (which took a long time to be served) in the bar before our reservation, only to find we were the only people in the restaurant for a good half an hour of service. The dinning room was uncomfortably laid out and seemed to be very dated. At dinner; the cod which was ordered by one of our party (who is a Red Seal, Michelin trained chef) was sent back as it was over-cooked only to be told by the Maître d', that ‘that was the way chef cooked it’ – all the other food, especially the salmon was wonderful, we did not stay for dessert. At breakfast; a Mimosa was ordered, but the server did not know what that was which seems surprising in such a well established restaurant.

Great location. Restaurants nearby.
Day 1 reception wasn’t able to answer where we get on Viking Cruise. Day 2 reception much more knowledgeable.
