1. Renovations was happening around the hotel, noise. 2. Bathroom in first floor rooms were 2 star rated, didn’t expect from Taj institution (can be better). 3. Buffet can be more appealing and appetizing. All Service from staff were excellent.

Wonderful! Couldn't have asked for a better start to our holiday in Sri Lanka.

The breakfast buffet was very good, though we felt that the fruits spread could have been much better. We also didn't see cheese in the breakfast buffet on any of the days which was surprising. The dinner buffet was excellent - we enjoyed the dinner buffet on most nights. In fact chose to eat at the hotel for dinner because the child and we were so pleased by the options in the spread. The 400 series rooms (one of which we stayed in) are located very well because they provide very quick access to the main restaurant, the recreational terrace, the pool as well as the beach. A special shout out to chef Dilip and his team for taking amazingly good care of us - we were thoroughly spoilt. The team at the bar were truly AMAZING too - we visited them every night for great conversations and amazing cocktails - they were great with our kid too. The housekeeping staff was so sweet with their special towel made animals that they left for our child in the room everyday! And finally the front desk team guided us superbly with all the fun things to do in Bentota during our week long stay.

Not a big deal but honestly found the bathroom layout a bit strange and cramped because it was long and narrow. We got used to it but it was definitely an adjustment.

Nice scrambled eggs. Nice staff (not including reception staff at checkout, after i paid my bill he said that he wants to take my card number, and expiration date, i told him no because its personal, he smiled and said its ok i have it anyways in the system and i can access it)

The room we got was different than the one we booked. The pictures in booking.com showed new rooms that looked nice. What we got was an old room, with a burnt electric socket. The bathroom was old and dirty. We asked them to change the room, the new room's AC wasnt working and the temperature inside was 27.5C. so they changed the room again, to another room that also had an AC problem. The beach is nice but there arent any beach beds or service at the beach, you can have a beach bed at the garden without beach view (you cant order food or drinks either) the pool area was nice. Food at room service is terrible, i ordered a burger and it looked like ot was made a few days ago. This hotel shouldnt have a 5 star rating, not even a 4 star rating. I would give it a low 3 star or a high 2 star. The worst hotel ive been to. Everything is old and out dated and a lot of the places had a weird smell. $250+ per night is too much for this place, the max i would pay to stay here is $5 per night and i would still think its too much for this joke of a hotel. If you are thinking of staying here, please research other hotels in this area, i wouldnt recommend this hotel to anyone.

Superb

The room view is garden and then beach. Beach access is private to guests, with all facilities (towel,shower etc). Food is very good, amazing Indian, continental, English vegetarian fresh options. Pool was clean, spa is a whole ambience in itself. Game zone was also fun and well maintained. Staff is very helpful and friendly.

The bathroom was a bit small and room was not as clean as taj's standard, i could see hair stuck in the wheel of extra bed, and some dust here and there near the bed and tables.

Great location, sea front views, good staff, good buffet restaurant. Enjoyed our 3 day stay just let down with bathroom

Location right on beach front. Good buffet breakfast and dinner. Friendly and helpful staff.

Bathrooms are dated and in need of some refurbishment or deep clean. Advertised as 5 star but more 3.5 to 4 star due to bathrooms.

brilliant!!!

the restaurant staff were exceptional. the waiters, chefs, and manager went above and beyond. taking the time - even when busy - to greet, recommend dishes, share recipes etc. absolutely amazing!!

Not worth it at all

Breakfast is good. Staff are fine.

Very old hotel, very expensive and not worth it. Beach is very far from hotel, you have to walk and down the stairs. Swimming pool is small, crowded with people. Balcony is small. Pictures are different from the real rooms. I will never come back again to this hotel.
