Great location, friendly staff but Hotel is dated and needs a revamp.

Location, fantastic beach, great pools, good breakfast and food. The staff are friendly and helpful.

Dated, Bathrooms need a revamp, Hot water was an issue in our room. If you stay on the ground floor then privacy is an issue.

Ekho Surf Hotel

All the staff were always smiling and friendly particularly the front of house staff. We always felt like we were the only guests there.They made us feel so special.When my daughter got sick staff went above and beyond to help and get a doctor and give advice. The rooms were kept spotless and the beds were comfy and cosy The view from the room was perfect. The food was delicious also.

There was no spa as advertised and no comfy bar as advertised.

Nice swimming pool, good location. If you like the ocean make sure to check when it’s a season and it’s possible to swim as July is off season and ocean is not blue. Wi-Fi and air conditioning was good. Food ok, chef is very good just no options at all what to choose, most likely it’s because it was off season.

when I reached the property at 2.30 pm on 16-05-2023 I was told that the ac isn't working and I should be looking at an alt accommodation not a call and the ac was off since morning only after I reached they sent a message horrible experience

Pool.... Near by beach... Location... Staffs... Room

It's ok but I found small ants in room... Which staffs help to remove... But it should have been cleaner and also there should be some mats on the ground

The room was nice and the hotel facilities e.g. gym, spa , pool, restaurant were lovely. Great location on Bentota beach.

We stayed for two nights. We arrived early on our first night and we had no problem waiting until check in time to check into our room, however upon our return at check in time we were told we had to wait a further 30minutes at least. Then we were told a king room wasn’t available but a twin room was. On the second day we woke up to loud music and construction work to find that there was a 500 people event taking place at the hotel that evening from 4.30pm - 11.00pm. We had not been told about this upon our booking nor had we been told about this on check in. The music was exceptionally loud in our room and the volume of people and event meant that the gym was unusable due to the set up of equipment. This was meant to be a relaxing last day of our holiday and unfortunately it was not as relaxing as it should have been. As we explained to staff if we had been informed about this event we would have made alternative arrangements for our final night of the holiday. We found the lack of communication and attitude of staff frustrating compared to the incredible hospitality we received in other areas of Sri Lanka. Whilst the hotel is aesthetically beautiful and reasonably priced for this area of Sri Lanka I wish we had spent a little more on one of the surrounding hotels in the area.

Rooms with pool are the best about the hotel.

Wonderful location with beach and pool in great combination. the rooms right by pool are the best. very calm and staff were incredibly friendly. pool is stunning.

hotel is definitely one of the top ones in the area although quite old and run down, shame. sheets unfortunately were full of stains (looked like foundation and blood?) in both rooms. great potential. bathrooms could do with a little TLC.

Beautiful Location

For us as a couple in their early sixties the location was perfect. The hotel is right on the beach sandy beach whilst at the back are nine or ten excellent places to eat. The staff were all very helpful & friendly. The hotel itself was kept spotlessly clean although as others have said, the rooms do need some updating. However from our perspective this isn't a massive concern as we didn't spend much time in our room. All rooms have a balcony or terrace on the beach looking out to the beautiful Indian Ocean. A mention for Subu tours who are located just outside the hotel on the beach. We booked three trips with them ( river safari, turtle sanctuary and elephant safari) and they were excellent.

The only real problem for us was the air con which was pretty poor and obviously needs replacing. We did report it as soon as we arrived but in fairness to the staff there's not a lot they can do.

Great stay.. with delicious food.

Loved the location of the property with its sea facing unhindered view!!! The staff was very friendly and was always ready to help. Would definitely recommend anyone who is wanting to stay there , a small tip*stay there for more than 3 day.. so that you soak in the property.

Room was very comfortable with lovely views to the beach. Breakfast was excellent with a great choice.

Amazing

Right in front of the beach and the stay is great value for money. Very helpful staff. Lot of open areas. Swimming pool is large and the restaurant is good.

Not Value for the money

swimming pool was very good and outside, it’s very close to Beach

Rooms and Bathrooms are very dirty, not maintaining the cleaning, they have generators during power cut but they don’t want to start the generator, while we are in the bed one of the light bulb blow it’s very bad I wouldn’t recommend

Breakfast and all meals exceptional , beach could have been better with some Hammocks , there was too much light in room and one cant sleep in day or till late morning

Lovely hotel just needs to pay attention to cleanliness.

Service; The staff were faultless, always happy and smiling. Facilities; The pools were beautiful. Room Service food was great. The cafe was great and provided me with an off menu items. Spa was nice and clean. Rooms; The bedlinen was clean and everything was in working order

Facilities; I didn’t use the restaurant as it was on a set menu (possibly due to off-season) which put me off. The spa was expensive.m, my next hotel had the same spa chain, I paid 2.5X more at Surf then at the next place. Rooms; this has the potential to be a stunning gold mine of a place. The cleanliness of the rooms really lets it down. the towels are grey and stained, the floor was filthy that my feet were black after a couple of minutes, the toiletries looked thrown in that made me question if the bathroom had been cleaned since last person. I brought it to the attention of management, they came and cleaned the room, better towels and the floor was mopped. The next day the room was drenched with mop water, that i slipped (thankfully onto the bed) I used a towel to mop the excess water and it was filthy. If Surf steps up on the cleaning this will be a great hotel. The hotel is next to the trainline, so not great if you are a light sleeper
