Hotel Croce della Malta is a great value-for-money hotel perfectly located only a few minutes walk from Piazza di Spagna and the Spanish Steps, Fontana di Trevi, and Piazza del Popolo. The staff were great and the rooms were very comfortable. There were some ongoing renovations during our stay which detracted somewhat from the overall experience, but for the standard of hotel that it was, and its location, the price paid for our rooms was fantastic!

The staff were lovely. I stayed there last year and had single room with very comfortable foam mattress. I assumed all the beds were like that. My room this year had a super hard mattress, and I couldn't sleep because of my very bad back. They brought me pillows to try to help and moved me to my old room as soon as it was available.

The location was fantastic, just minutes from the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain.
The toilet didn’t flush. We reported it when we arrived and was told it would be passed on to the morning staff to arrange a repair, which was understandable as we arrived late in the evening. I went to use the shared toilet, but that was not working either. We checked with reception late the next morning, and it had not passed on. They did get it repaired by the time we returned in the evening. There was no control for the aircon on in the room, so asked at reception and was told it was centrally controlled and was on a timer. We never saw it working. This meant having the window open, resulting it being very noisy throughout the night. We did go to ask if we could get a different room, but other guests were asking the same question when we were in reception and were told the hotel was fully booked and they could not swap rooms.
