while we travelled the area, we finally ended up to stay here for three individually booked consecutive nights as it appeared the best option/ the price was really good, the breakfasts were excellent. the hotel has its own good onsen. there is also parking of the hotel. Nothing more we wished for, we would stay again.

Not new but cearn. Perfect location, very close to the Beppu station.
No big cups in the room. A bit of a sewage smell in the bathroom.

Breakfast was a small selection but the local bakes were a nice touch. The rooms are spacious - I could open my luggage comfortably and still use the small table and chair for my snacks. The view overlooked JR Beppu Station and it was nice to see the view beyond. The onsen was the highlight of the stay - with 2 baths that are rotated daily, you get one in the evening and another in the morning. One had an indoor and (semi) outdoor one - because the outdoor one is still enclosed and the the other had pipes from the ceiling which made for a good water massage for my shoulders. Another plus is that there are 2 sister hotels, walking distance away where you can try their onsen baths too. Had a really comfortable stay while I was there and will be back in future!

Location next to train station.
Room was very tiny. Also accidentally booked smoking room as non smoking couple. The smell on the corridor and surface of the room was horrible. Very mediocre breakfast. Confusing check in process.
