I liked the location
Out of seven people staying in the room one guy snored so loud it kept everyone awake and a couple of people left the room

Pretty solid location. Okay value considering how insanely expensive Cairns is (most of Australia frankly).
The hostel is in kind of average condition. The rooms give motel vibes and the laundry was gross and non-functional. We asked about it at check in and nobody said anything about 2 out of 3 washers being broken. We had to walk to a coin laundry 15 minutes away, at 9:30pm and spend $10 to wash our laundry before a scuba trip the next day. Not ideal.

The YHA is perfectly located in Cairns-right across from the train station & not far from the airport. The town, esplanade & marina for trips to the reef are in super easy walking distance, making it really convenient. The staff are super friendly- as they are in all the Australian YHAs we’ve stayed in-and can help with any questions. The kitchen & laundry are both very busy but there is everything you need. We stayed there as a family three times between trips around tropical North Queensland & it suited us well. There’s a nice mix of people & we got good travel tips from other guests. If you are looking for a base to explore the area & visit the reef, this is ideal.
