La gentillesse et les attentions du personnel, le cadre, la piscine.
À améliorer: plus de lumière dans la salle de bains qui ne dispose que d’une faible lumière tamisée, peu pratique pour se préparer coiffer ou maquiller.
Rideaux trop fins donc nous sommes réveillés tôt par la lumière du jour.
Peu praticable avec une poussette, et pas d’ascenseur si vous êtes dans les chambres tout en haut de l’hôtel.
La plage pas toujours propre.
Le petit déjeuner très basique.

Die traumhaften baumhäuser liegen sehr schön am hang, wer keine Steigung schafft sollte ein anderes Zimmer wählen
Vorschlag für die baumhäuser: mit einer Hängematte ausstatten 😀 wir hatten unsere eigene dabei.

Największą zaletą obiektu jest bardzo miły i pomocny personel. Podobała nam się również lokalizacja - ze względu na spokojne otoczenie. Cisza i spokój, polecam szczególnie osobom które nurkują lub chcą spróbować - plaża jest bazą wypadową do nurkowania i snurkowania. Fajna lokalizacja też dla osób z dziećmi, które obawiają się że przy plaży w centrum będzie zbyt głośno wieczorami, trzeba jednak wziąć pod uwagę, ze hotelu jest bardzo dużo stromych schodów więc ciężko poruszać się z wózkiem. Śniadanie było przyzwoite. Wszystko dobrze zorganizowane - transport do centrum, komunikacja na whatsup.
Nie nazwałabym tego obiektu hotelem- to bardziej baza dla nurków. Było brudno, pokoje wymagają dokładniejszego sprzątania. Po pokoju nie dało się chodzić boso bo stopy po chwili były czarne. Tak samo części wspólne - sporo śmieci, bardzo dużo kurzu i np klejące stoliki. Bardzo, bardzo dużo komarów. Wiadomo, że to ‚wina’ lokalizacji jednak muszę o tym wspomnieć - w trakcie posiłku trzeba było cały czas uważać na komary albo używać preparatów na komary przez cały czas. Pokój miał bardzo podstawowe wyposażenie- brak szafy z półkami, wszystkie rzeczy trzymaliśmy w walizkach. Bardzo ciemno w łazience.

Le site est extraordinaire. La plage où on peut faire du snorkling vraiment top. Le personnel est extrêmement gentil et à l'écoute.
Les bungalows sont confortables mais il n'y a pas de patères pour accrocher les vêtements ni étagères. On est obligés de tout mettre par terre.

The hotel is situated in a remote part of the island. This means that every time you want to go into town (or anywhere else), you pay 400 / 500 THB for a taxi (one way). The idyllic location totally makes up for it though.

Breakfast, not the best (they didn't have fresh juice) but pretty good.
The location is far away from the center, so you need a bike or taxi all the time. In the beach nobody was swimming because there were too many rocks and they only have normal plastic chairs (not so confortable as beach chairs) without many sunshades. So if you want to enjoy the beach you need to call a taxi and go somewhere else. Internet didn't work fine in the rooms, and in one of them didn't work at all. Some rooms have shared bathroom, and as there are lots of trees nearby, we found cockrouchs inside every day (maybe you need to make some noice before going inside). Also in those bathrooms the shower and the WC are together and when you take a shower all the floor gets wet (really the whole bathroom floor is flooded). We recommend to go with moskito repellent because there are lots of them, between 17:00 and 19:00 you can't be in the reception, and cross your fingers that there are none of them inside your room. You have to enter and exit your room very quickly so no mosquito goes inside or you will find yourself trying to get rid of them all night long. Also we changed room and they never gave as the key, we arrived at 22:30 pm, the receptionist left at 22:00pm. We called and wrote to them but no answer (they didn't contact us telling where to find it) so we had to sleep 3 people totally uncomfortable, with not even an apologize (reception just said its your fault). If you have any issue, don't expect any kind of refund from their part. The first time we have such a bad experience in a place that has a good evaluation in booking.

The rooms were very clean the staff were exceptional . the beach is the best place for a family snorkelling trip . My grandchildren’s first Time and they loved it would highly recommend staying here. we will definitely be going back.

Rustic chalet in beach setting was a wonderful change from city life. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the made to order breakfast meant less wastage of food. Possibility to snorkel and dive from resort is definitely an advantage.
The beds were a tad uncomfortable, but perhaps fitting for the rustic feel!

This is my second time staying at Montalay. I stayed in one of the lovely garden cottages. The resort and rooms have everything you need and is right on the (amazing) Tanote Bay beach... which had walk in access to the beautiful reef and all the creature that call the bay home.
The biggest credit to Montalay are its staff. It was lovely to see some of the same employees who were working at Montalay on my previous visit and who surprisingly remembered me 😊
As a solo traveller they really made me feel welcome and at home.

Just be mindful that the resort is set in the heart of Koh Tao nature - meaning that you are sharing your space with mosquitos and other critters. Go prepared - I would recommend investing in anti-mosquito spray and/or plug in for yourself and your room. Both can be found in the 7-Eleven at the pier. If you ask the Montalay driver picking you up from the pier then you should have a few minutes to pop to the shop before heading over to Tanote Bay.

It's right next to Tanote beach, which is an amazing spot. There aren't so many restaurants in the location, so we rented a scooter via the hotel, which worked perfectly and then we were pretty mobile getting around the island.

The daily staff were exceptional, a mix of Burmese and Thai but very helpful and simply couldn’t do enough for you.
the pool was fantastic
on the second day the WiFi did not work, l complained to the owner, who said he would get an engineer to see to it.
This of course was a total lie, he never had any intention to fix it. Over the eight days we spent here the WiFi was crap every day, upon enquiry ALL the other guests l spoke to said the same.
The breakfast buffet was great for one day, but after eight was monotonous, and overall bad quality, my Thai wife is an exceptional chef and said that the menu could have been improved at no extra cost, it tended to be quite cheap anyway.
as l said for one or two days no problem, but having lived in Thailand for a number of years, well honestly, it should be better.
To hire a scooter 300 b per day roughly 100 b more than most places, we had hired scooters on Kho Pangan for three weeks at 180 b per day.

To start off the location is beautiful. A nice little bay with its own beach and amazing underwater life to explore when snorkling or diving. The resort has its own diving centre with excellent instructor, a beautiful infinity pool and the restaurant is very nice too. Excellent breakfast, fresh fruit, pancakes, different types of eggs, continental breakfast but also some nice local dishes to choose from.
The bungalows are cosy, clean, located in the tropical garden by the beach so you are surrounded by nature ❤️
It is quiet but if you want to visit other parts of the island you can take the free shuttle provided by the resort. Loved this service and have used it several times.

Breakfast was cold, cold eggs are not good :-) there are other beaches that are much nicer in Ko Tao. Nightlife is dead in the area.

The dive school was amazing! Definitely worth staying here for that alone but the beach is great and views are awesome. You can walk a short way for great views over Tanote bay. Rooms are nice and spacious with good balconies.

Lovely personell offering free taxi drives from Montalay location to Sairee Beach (and back) multiple times a day. Though, i'd still recommend renting a scooter for the time staying.

The location is quite far from the busier parts of the island but they offer free hotel shuttle at certain times. There was nobody at reception during the night so not ideal for emergencies etc.

its located at the nice and quite area, away from the main part of island. Super close to the beach, suitable for the sunbath and swim for chill.
they have diving service too, they take care you very much during each dive. However, ask more about the coach experience before diving.

The most polite and friendly staff I have ever met, they did everything they could to make you happy! Helpful at reception also. Able to rent snorkels at the dive shop, hotel right on the beach of Tanote Bay that has lots of fish to see. Food great and free shuttle service very useful. Would recommend to all!

Staff were friendly and the location by the beach was convenient. Free shuttle to the pier was nice. We had dinner one night in the restaurant and it was really good (way better than another restaurant on the bay we tried). We had an A/C room but the rotating ceiling fans were also helpful. It was easy to rent snorkels at the hotel dive shop.
