Staying at the Carmichael Boutique Hotel was an absolute delight from start to finish. This beautifully restored 1896 home perfectly blends historic charm with modern comfort, creating a boutique experience that feels both elegant and welcoming.
The hotel is tastefully decorated throughout, with thoughtful attention to detail that makes every corner feel special. I loved the wooden floors and stained-glass entrance way. My room was well-appointed, featuring a wonderfully comfortable bed, a modern and spacious bathroom, and a peaceful atmosphere perfect for relaxing after a busy day. The entire property is exceptionally clean.
Breakfast quickly became a highlight of each day. Served in the lovely conservatory, with a view of the immaculate garden, it featured outstanding croissants imported from France and baked fresh daily. The rest of the breakfast offering was equally enjoyable.
What truly sets this hotel apart, however, are the wonderful hosts, Yves and Valerie. Their warmth, attentiveness, and genuine care made an already excellent stay even more memorable and special. They go out of their way to ensure guests feel at home and have everything they need.
Location-wise, the hotel is perfectly positioned close to the University of Cape Town (UCT), making it an ideal base if you’re visiting the university or exploring the surrounding suburbs.

The hosts were very friendly and welcoming, while still maintaining a high level of professionalism — it struck a perfect balance between feeling at home and being well taken care of.
This is a gorgeous old house with an abundance of beautiful, character-filled details. The location was excellent, very close to the airport with easy access to major roads, yet surprisingly quiet and peaceful. The garden is beautiful, with birds regularly visiting, which made it especially relaxing.
Everything was spotlessly clean, the breakfast was absolutely delicious, and the bed was incredibly comfortable.
We will definitely be back.

A wonderful boutique hotel with the charm of past years, yet impeccably maintained. The hosts were exceptionally warm and helpful, kindly assisting us with planning our days and making restaurant reservations. There is a small pool and a beautiful garden that invite you to relax. The breakfast was outstanding. We felt very welcome & safe.
