Boulevard Waters

The apartment is situated right next to the lake in Taupo so the views from the terrace, lounge and master bedroom are delightful. It is perfectly situated only a 5 minute drive from the center of Taupo. There is a delightful hot pool to soak in and a spa bath in the apartment. This is the second time my wife and I have stayed and we will return.

This was our second stay at Boulevard Waters after really enjoying our previous visit. The location and lake views are still beautiful, and being right on the lake is definitely one of the biggest reasons to stay here. We paid extra this time for the deluxe top floor room, which gave us a larger outdoor deck and the same fantastic view. Plus a small bistro table out the back to sit at. Unfortunately it was too windy during our stay to really use the outdoor seating/lounger, but obviously that's the weather and no fault of the accommodation. The room had what we needed for a short stay. The spa bath was lovely and bubble bath was provided, which is a nice touch. Having Sky TV was also great. Parking was easy as it was on our previous visit, and the lady servicing/cleaning the rooms was friendly. It's in front of the other accomodation spots with direct access to the lake walkway.

We actually preferred the second floor room we had on our previous stay. Although the top floor gives you some additional outdoor deck space, it seems to come at the expense of some indoor space, and for us it wasn't worth paying extra for. We'd happily return, but would choose the less expensive second floor option next time. The room also didn't seem to be in quite as good condition as we remembered from our previous stay. The bed itself was okay, but the bath gowns felt quite scratchy this time. When we stripped the bed before leaving to help housekeeping, we noticed the mattress underneath the protector had quite a lot of staining. There was a newer basic mattress protector covering it, but given the price of the room, we felt the mattress itself was due some attention/replacement. The shower was clean enough, although the water pressure wasn't particularly good. The room layout was also a little awkward for relaxing: the TV faces the bed rather than the couch, so if you want to comfortably watch TV you're essentially using the bed rather than the living area. Guests are asked not to use the heat pump during winter and to rely on the underfloor heating. We tried to do this, but the room became too cold at night and we eventually used the heat pump on a low setting. Given the price paid and that the heat pump is provided in the room, we don't think guests should feel uncomfortable about using it when the room is cold. Overall, it still has a fantastic location and view, but we didn't feel the top floor room offered enough extra to justify the additional cost. We had a better experience in the second floor room on our previous visit and would choose that option again. Nothing negative about the staff, they were great.

great location..right on the lake and view of the main walking path and easy access....large cafe right next door and easy walking down to Millenium lounge bar to sip in style..
