Amazing location, spacious and clean rooms with great access to the beach. Friendly staff. Good freshly made breakfast.
Lunch options are limited which is not an issue if you’re only staying for 1-2 nights.

Everything was exceptional from the minute we walked in. The staff were great, the room clean and spacious and everything in between. We realised the ports were American and called reception and they straight away brought us an adaptor. There was also a turn down service which is not something we had experienced before, water topped up, bed made again, chocolates… could not fault this place at all
This is not an issue with the property, but if you book through booking.com the price will be substantially more than advertised once government taxes are added on and charged when you arrive

I stayed at Mosvold Villa as a treat at the end of my Sri Lanka trip, drawn in by the promise of luxury and beachfront relaxation. The rooms are large, stylish, and very comfortable, and the beach view is truly stunning. In the off-season, the beach feels almost private - I went for a run each morning and had it entirely to myself most morning. The sunbeds overlook the sea, and the setting is peaceful and serene. The staff were generally kind, especially the pool team who were warm and attentive.
I felt disappointed by the overall value for money. The service was very slow, particularly in the restaurant, and the food wasn’t great — especially for the price. The menu is in USD, which made this the most expensive meal experience I had in Sri Lanka. Despite what was advertised, the 15% discount on services via Booking.com didn’t apply, as parking and WiFi are already free, and there are no additional facilities like a gym or spa.
While the hotel is beautiful, it’s quite isolated, especially in the off-season when surrounding cafes and shops are closed. You’ll need to take a tuk-tuk into Ahangama for decent restaurants or nightlife, and it didn’t feel that safe walking down the street at night. Ultimately, while the beachfront setting is gorgeous, you’re really just paying for the view — and I believe you can find more characterful and welcoming places in the area for less than half the price (even right next door!)
