The room we booked was fabulous, spacious with beautiful views and furnished to a very high standard with lovely touches, robes (but no slippers), fresh milk and nice coffee bags. We had a large bath and a shower which was lovely. It was very clean and a credit to the housekeeping staff. The hotel itself was delightful, the bar area very traditional and charming, as was the dining room.
The food was not to the same high standard as the room, the menu sounded super but the food was disappointing. The dining room staff were a bit lacklustre and there did not seem to be anyone in charge of the dining room so the service lacked any commitment to offering a high standard to guests.

The location is perfect. The staff were helpful but there were not enough of them
When we booked we didn’t know that this is now a party venue so our quiet couple of days didn’t turn out that way. The stag group were outside our window drinking, swearing and relieving themselves in the bushes. Service in the restaurant was very slow
