Zanzibar Palace Hotel is a charming boutique property set within a beautifully restored merchant house in the heart of Stone Town. The building is full of character, and every room has its own unique style and atmosphere.
We stayed in Arabica, on the top floor, and absolutely loved it. The room was spacious, the bed very comfortable, and everything was spotlessly clean.
The service throughout our stay was exceptional. Daniela’s attention to detail is remarkable—you can see her thoughtful touch in every corner of the hotel. Iddi, Lulu and Jamila were fantastic as well; from check‑in to breakfast and everything in between, they made us feel genuinely welcomed and cared for.
We also enjoyed the hotel’s happy hour, which offered a great selection of wine and spirits. Our daughter especially loved the fresh juices.
Daniela helped us organise a tour to Nakupenda and Prison Island, and also assisted with confirming details for a spice farm visit we had arranged before arriving.
Overall, Zanzibar Palace Hotel is a warm, character‑filled place with outstanding service. We would happily stay here again.

Staff were amazing, so helpful and always friendly, wanted to know how your day was and if you were enjoying yourself. Lovely historical building which really made you feel you were in Stone Town.
We knew there was no lift but really not prepared for just how tall some of the stairs were. If you have mobility difficulties please be aware and this probably isn’t the hotel for you. It is simply a feature of the property given its age.

This is a cute boutique hotel, no elevator, Stairs are steep! Its good for youngsters for the top floor, beautiful rooms just like the pictures. comfotable bed. you can feel sense of history preserved in the hotel. Staff are super nice

This is one of the oldest buildings in town. Very well maintained and of a true, genuine character.
The food is lower than average, breakfast is really low, although they packed our breakfast the last day and that was OK. The hotel has no generator, which means no power, no air conditioning, no Wi-Fi, no tap water in case of power outage.
