Private Pool was good. Food within restaurant was good. Staff were very polite. Kids enjoyed the Slides and pool.
Maintenance of rooms has been neglected. Looks like a DIYer maintains it. Both exterior SunBlinds didn't work. Not nearly enough plug sockets. Couldn't use the kettle without turning the TV off, or had to boil water in bedrooms. Bathroom needs replacing. We went 'Half Board' because were not big drinkers, but restaurant guy wanted to charge us 5euro (20euro in total) each day during dinner for what amounted to 6-8 small glasses of cordial juice, so instead we brought our own cans of drink with us. Not much to do nearby - one single Taverna. Everything was a 15 min Bus Ride away. The best communal balcony view (near reception) was adults only, so we couldn't use, so was always underused/empty. All entertainment was in French!

The room was larger than expected, with a very comfortable bed and all the essentials I needed. Cleanliness was excellent, and I had a great night’s sleep in such a cozy environment.

Overall, Rethymno Mare offers everything needed for a memorable vacation. Comfortable rooms, welcoming staff, amazing pools, and delicious food make it a place we would happily return to.

Waterpark is nice for kids and the entertainment in the evenings.
Private pool was nice.
Extremely crowded at breakfast, lunch and dinner, long waiting lines to enter the restaurant. Out of 3 restaurants advertised, only 1 was open. The a la carte was open only on Friday, fully booked almost 1 week in advance. Food was low quality, dirty dishes, staff was insufficient. It looked like a student cantine, not a 5 star hotel. Actually two hotels are merged, Rethymno Mare and Rethymno Royal, with one restaurant.
Drinks at bar were low quality, only open from 5 in the evening.
Wifi works in the room only if the tv is on!
Remote from any city (15 min by taxy, 15 euro), only one taverna across the street where you can eat.
Definitely not worth the money, we paid 600 euro for a room with private pool. Avoid at all costs.
