Really cool idea, loved staying in the historical jail! I like how they've repurposed the doors for tables and utilized all the rooms. So quirky! The beds were comfortable enough for a few nights, the room was warm enough too for August.
I wasn't aware that there was an extra charge for towels as there was an image of towels in the room we booked, as we got there after reception was closed we had to go out and buy our own towels. I likely missed the information about that but it was a little misleading with the images of towels.

A themed hostel in a real former prison. Almost like a museum hostel, with plenty of information about the history of the place, important figures, and glimpses into what the cells were like when the prison was operational. Free parking is included, but you have to arrive early to get a spot. The rooms are very comfortable and include spacious lockers. There are recreation rooms with a TV with Netflix, a pool table, and darts. Check-in is quite quick, they just send you the codes by email, and you can arrive at any time. There's a spacious shared kitchen. A great hostel for exploring Christchurch
For some reason, when you enter the reservation on booking it says breakfast is included, but there is no breakfast

loved that it made me look around and think that this was a jail one time. and I did like the TV Room. the bed room was ok
I have already emailed the staff about this. and it must have been just one of thoughts a moment in someone else life to think it was a good idea to try and go through my things when I was not quite asleep. so, of course I stayed awake for the next person please try and keep your things in a locker. but my one was taken by someone else.
