Location was the best thing about the property, conveniently located next to the beach.
The Rip Jack Inn was one of our final stops after a three-week journey through Costa Rica. We were looking forward to winding down in Playa Grande, close to the surf, and chose this hotel based on its convenient location and solid reviews. Unfortunately, our experience didn’t live up to expectations.
We stayed in a deluxe room, while our friends booked a suite. Both rooms were underwhelming. The beds in our room were noticeably sunken in, and the pillows were uncomfortably hard — not what you'd hope for after a long day of travel or beach activities. For the price we paid, we expected a much higher level of comfort.
What really stood out in a negative way was the check-in process. We were asked if we wanted to pay an additional fee to cover maintenance and landscaping costs — something we found completely unacceptable, especially considering the already premium rate for the room. These types of expenses should be built into the nightly rate, not passed on as an optional surcharge to guests.
