Staffs were nice and helpful

The rooms are big and nicely laid out—especially the shower allowing you to look out onto the grounds, the ocean, and all the way to the horizon. The balcony is spacious and very private. The breakfasts are incredible and all the facilities are generally well laid out and nicely kept. The housekeeping staff was lovely and attentive, and the bed very comfortable.

It’s starting to show its age some, and the humidity wreaks havoc on the interior spaces since they all have a lot of wood. The room had a bit of a musty smell that I just sort of got used to. The “adults” pool had multiple children in/around it each time I was there. The kids pool also had multiple children—obviously—but that’s also where the one, mostly unstaffed bar is. If your express goal is to lay on a Bali bed while doting staff bring you well prepared cocktails in a tropical paradise, you simply will not find that here. Also the lounge chairs are terribly designed and terribly uncomfortable. They’re like little slides that force you to fight gravity to stay on them. And, in a hotel with hundreds and hundreds of rooms and 2X as many adults as rooms, they had 12 lounge chairs with (immovable) umbrellas, and six more at the water’s edge. If you’ve traveled the world and know what 5-star service and facilities look like everywhere else, you’ll understand me when I say this place has that bizarre, uniquely Chinese combination of ticking all the “luxury” boxes but completely missing the concept. Cocktails, for instance are puzzlingly wrong—a “manhattan” maid with scotch and orange liqueur, for instance—and the bartending staff don’t actually know how to make cocktails . . . of any kind really. And there’s no decent or even interesting wine or beer.

We spent a week In the Intercontinental Sanya Haitang Bay. The room exceeded our expectations, was nice, huge and clean. The wooden decorations made atmosphere. From checking in we've got permanent help from Nomad. We really appreciated his effort. The view from the room is exceptional. Our daughter loved the swimming pool. The breakfast was with good variety of food.

We paid in advance for everyday dinner in the hotel. I would recommend to not do that during the rainy season. It's better to have more options in a la carte menu.

Service poolside non existent, service at lobby lounge very poor. Under staffed low service orientation. Very poor English. I have basic Chinese language live in China but found communication very challenging. Room was expensive and did not live up to expectations
