It’s 12:30 a.m. After a three-hour drive from Colombo Airport, a huge wooden gate opens before me. For a moment, I almost feel as though I’m entering Jurassic Park! A pathway leads to a magnificent illuminated staircase, followed by an open-air lobby offering a stunning view of the swimming pool, even at night. Welcome to Aliya Resort & Spa!
This is my first visit to Sri Lanka, and from the very first moments, I know it will be an experience I’ll never forget.
The next morning, the magic continues with an exceptional breakfast, both for its impressive variety and its spectacular setting. Enjoying breakfast while overlooking the famous Sigiriya Lion Rock is a real privilege.
The swimming pool is simply stunning. With approximately 38 metres of usable swimming length, it’s perfect for anyone who, like me, enjoys swimming laps. I also highly recommend experiencing it after dark, when the beautiful lighting creates a truly magical atmosphere.
Another experience not to be missed is the spa. The full-body massage package is outstanding. A wonderful moment of relaxation, absolutely flawless from start to finish. Don’t hesitate to treat yourself!
The food is equally excellent, whether you choose the buffet or the à la carte menu. In the evening, enjoying a cocktail while listening to live performances by a trombonist, a flautist or a sitar player adds an extra touch of elegance to the experience.
Finally, take the time to wander through the resort’s gardens after sunset. The rooms are located in charming little buildings surrounded by lush greenery, connected by softly illuminated pathways. The atmosphere is peaceful, almost enchanting.
Aliya Resort is much more than just a place to stay. It’s a place to explore, experience and remember.
For my first visit to Sri Lanka, I couldn’t have imagined a more wonderful experience!

This place is amazing, the facilities are really nice especially the pool which is really unbelievable.
The staff is really kind and friendly, they make you fell like home!
The closing time of the restaurant cannot be 9 pm. If you are having guests from all over the world with different dining time, it is impossible to close the restaurant so early, especially while you are on vacation and you want to enjoy the day out

The day spa not great compared to others. Very hot in the treatment rooms and wasn't an overall relaxing experience. Not sure how qualified they are. We dined at the Chinese restaurant it was very tired.
