I came to Skorrahestar for the quiet and the animals and got both. The family treated me like a member of the family. I got to interact with the sheep and rode twice with Doddy on horseback all around the countryside. Had quiet talks with Tea over coffee and shared stories about Iceland and the US. Food was great, pancakes and pancake instructions after riding were a welcome surprise. I was very sorry to leave.
Can't think of anything that could be better. Everything was just as I wanted.

The hosts were an incredibly kind couple and extremely accommodating and attentive to our group's needs. It truly felt like an authentic Icelandic homestay, with the host sharing cultural stories, playing the accordion, and singing together with us. They even let us feed the lambs on their farm! We also elected to do a horse riding tour through the fjord, and the host made that experience thoroughly enjoyable, despite the drizzle. I cannot recommend this place enough if you want a personalized and authentic homestay experience, especially if you love animals, since the guesthouse is part of an active farm :)

Friendly host, cosy lobby
The toilet in the bathroom was dirty. It seemed like it hadn't been cleaned. The toilet paper hadn't been changed since the previous guests. Breakfast was very meager. Tasteless porridge, bread, a little sausage and cheese—that was it. There’s no soundproofing in the building. I woke up at 4 a.m. because people from the neighboring room were making noise in the stairwell. This stay definitely wasn’t worth the money they charged us.
