Beautiful property, awesome breakfasts!!, welcoming hosts.

Beautiful property, well-maintained garden, extremely well-located (close to town and also to surf breaks) comfortable beds and pretty outdoor shower underneath the palm tree shade.

Beautiful beach cabanas

Great location just a short walk from town so very peaceful. Comfortable rooms and beautiful common areas. The staff were very accommodating, especially the owners! We were very well looked after. Such a great sopt, right near the beach.

This is the place to be and make sure you don't miss out on the bbq safari evening! One of the best experience I had in Sri Lanka. 6 months in different Hotels and homestays and this is one I would return to without any doubt ☺️

A nice place with nice staff, but a bit over priced for the experience that we had

The staff were really friendly and lovely, they also sorted us out with a driver to get to our next destination and an amazing surfing instructor! It was well located, close to the beach and the town was only a short walk away.

We should have booked a room with air con as it was very hot when we stayed and we only had a fan that was very very loud and kept us awake most of the night. However, when we asked we were given another fan to use that was much more effective and quieter. Also we had quite heavy rain one night and our room flooded, the outside balcony and the inside of our room had quite a lot of water, it was lucky that we didn't have our bags on the floor as the water came under our bed and would have soaked all of our things. So the following night we asked for a towel to put by our door just to try and soak up some of the water if it did rain.

Loved this place! Some of the best breakfast.

Consider taking an AC room if you cannot handle ants, geckos, cockroaches and so on ;)

Beautiful location in a calm and safe area but still close to the Main road. clean and spacious rooms with some nice details and very friendly staff. sudo and Rafaela are very welcoming and always try to make everything as pleasant as possible.

Relaxing and recharging

Located in a quiet and green place in walking distance to the center, with family atmosphere. Raffaella & Sudu & Team take well care of each guest with tips, BBQs, Safaris and delicious food. I liked my spacious mud-house cabana and the own water kettle and fridge were handy.

Great experience

The jungle BBQ they organize shouldn’t be missed. Great scenery, great food, great experience.

It’s a bit out of town, but I rented a scooter anyway so no problem.

Super!

Fresh water from the tap! And not some manager, but the owners with their personal story written in the welcoming writings in the room. Nice bathroom with playful details. Colorful staff. Probably our best Rice and Curry up til now. ‘Own’ surf teacher Lenny is great. Did a nice job on trying to teach our kid with a lot of patience.

The toilet at the restaurant is quite basic (mostly in comparison to the rest) and I was pretty surprised that kids are allowed to walk on top of the kitchen counter.

Perfect location with a home from home feel

Home from home. Great location and a really nice friendly atmosphere. Perfect place for anyone looking for a nice place to stay in arugam bay.

Superb

Lovely large cabanas in a village location with a garden. Raphaela and Sudu were great hosts. Highly recommend the jungle safari, the food was delicious. Also the muesli breakfast is a winner too. Easy walking distance to the beach.

Low season.. did not met the expectations

Facilities are very nice and decoration is great! Breakfast was also very good. Staff helped us get takeaway dinner.

We stayed with East Cabanas at the end of the low season. Unfortunately Arugam Bay seemed like a ghost town.. restaurants were closed, beaches were unsafe due to crocodiles (bay was open). Additionally, the East Surf Cabanas itself was in a construction and renovation period also. Arugam bay wasn’t meeting our expectations. Due to this, we opt to change plans, and just stay one night in Arugam Bay, instead of two. The staff was inflexible and we were charged both nights instead of just one. We were expecting East Surf Cabanas would be more flexible, as we were absolutely puzzled with the overall disappointing environment of Arugam.

Exceptional

We absolutely loved our stay at East Surf! The rooms are beautiful and the outside shower amazing! The garden is perfect to relax and hang out. But what made our stay unforgettable was the hospitality, attention and love from Rafaella and Sudu. Sudu and his nephew Lani took us to a beautiful sunset place right when we arrived. The day after we joined the famous ‘jungle BBQ’, were we saw elephants, crocodiles, monkeys and much more. Sudu cooked us the best prawn currys and we built a campfire under the stars. A once in a lifetime experience! Lani joined us the next day on a scooter trip. Without all of them, our stay in Arugam Bay (in off season!) wouldnt have been that memorable. And I didnt even explain about the amazing breakfast! Thanks a lot to all of you, we hope for a great season this year!
