This hotel is a bit special. It isn't cheap, so, it really should be.
The staff were all exceptionally professional.
The decor is sumptuous and luxurious.
The location is very good, being close to the Moulin Rouge. There are several bus and metro routes close to hand.
Housekeeping is exceptional in this day and age.
Our bed was very large and extremely comfortable.
Linen and towels were luxurious.
I have listed a few negatives below, but they are not meant to detract from the quality of this establishment. The Maison Souquet is an exceptional hotel and is thoroughly recommended if you want to treat yourself.
The 400 (100 per night) euros deposit is extreme. I don't recall seeing this mentioned on the booking.com website.
Everywhere is very dark, this is in keeping with the decor, but can lead to some practical issues. The kettle and coffee facilities are in a very dark cupboard, this would have been quite dangerous if we didn't have a travel light with us.
The only bedside sockets are at floor level, we had to charge things in the bathroom as our travel adapters could not be plugged in.
We did have a couple of minor plumbing issues, these were dealt with swiftly with temporary repairs.

It was in a great location. The hotel was interesting and had some history and a little spa facility.
The bed was uncomfortable with very thin soft pillows and a bad mattress. The rooms were very small and the bathroom didn’t feel clean. The staff were friendly but very slow. Breakfast was expensive and small
