I absolutely fell in love with Caño negro and the surrounding area. The hotel itself is situated on a huge plot of land which you can enjoy at any given time. There is so much nature to see here and it felt like one of the last remaining untouched regions of Costa Rica. The morning bird tours were some of the best I've ever done, I saw so many birds out in the wetlands that I lost count and not to mention it's one of the most peaceful places I've ever been. I did two 4 hour morning boat trips and saw 1 other tourist boat in the whole 8 hours.
Andrea is an amazing guy who will go above and beyond to help you, he organised all of our tours and was even on hand to answer any other questions we had about Costa Rica. The food is great too! Would recommend this hotel to anyone!
People complain about the road, but it's honestly not bad at all, just some pot holes.
My only complaint is the vacant rooms seem to have their doors left open indefinitely. When we arrived our bed was a bit dirty and I can only assume it's because of this.
Other than that nothing, amazing property and location!

Everything but especially the food!
Lots of mosquitos and no-see-ums but that's just Costa Rica! Wear bug spray if they like you and you'll be okay.

My purpose was to photograph two species of birds, the jabiru and the Roseatte Spoonbill. Campo Hotel De Campo was perfectly located near the boat that was used by Chambita, my independent guide. Andres the owner, manager was hospitable in all areas. During dinner he mingled with all guests. Patricia and her son Bruno were welcoming, helpful and truly accommodating. I truly felt like I was experiencing true Costa Rica hospitality not a made for tourist place.
Purrujas, a small no-se-um biting insects, attacked me while I was sleeping.
There is no warning, no particular reason but the bite leaves red welts, itches
and can only be soothed with a local ointment called Alegel, available in pharmacies. Hotel might issue some warning and advise to use some form of
insect repellent. Or provide an insect coil for the room.
