One of the quirkiest and most entertaining accommodation I've ever seen. There's so much to look at in the area around and inside the hotel itself. The rooms were delightful, and the staff were super-accommodating

I read the mixed reviews so I was a bit worried but I’m not sure who doesn’t love this place. It was such a unique and beautiful experience. The place is a museum, the room was very comfortable and clean, and the owner was very friendly and sweet. I thoroughly enjoyed our conversations and his patience with me explaining the place and the art/furniture throughout the hotel. I especially enjoyed the fireplace in the lobby, where I could drink my tea and relax after a long day of hiking in the region. For dinner I went to a different place, about 10km south of this place so I can’t comment on the food.

The Otira Stagecoach Hotel is an eccentric accommodation. The ground floor is a museum with everything from an old player piano to old relics from stagecoach days. There are beautiful
antiques throughout the bedrooms. Lester and his staff are welcoming and accommodating.
The hotel is most definitely shabby chic. It is a convenient stop between the east and the west but it sits beside the train tracks which means train noise. Unfortunately we had concern about cleanliness especially in the kitchen.
