Initially, I planned on staying only 2 nights here, but ended up staying for several more. The reception crew, Melih, Ipek and Saliha went out of their way to make me feel comfortable; their English was excellent and they would give me extremely helpful advice from a local perspective on where to eat, park around Istanbul and fun places to take my kids. As a mom of 3, the bellmen, Zafer and Pelin, made me feel secure in the absence of my husband. They helped me with my bags, parked my car for me and one night when I left my car lights on, they called me down to turn them off. When my husband had to leave Turkey unexpectedly, I felt so safe and cared for by all of the staff at the Grand Harilton; I will forever appreciate them for the ir care during a critical time for my family.
Regarding cleanliness: the bedding is freshly laundered, very clean bathrooms and linens, the hotel is well-lit and definitely well cared for. The bed was very comfortable, they use black-out curtains to keep out light; shower was wonderful with all the necessary toiletries provided.
Breakfast- Absolultely amazing, I spent nearly 4 nights there, and each day we had a massive breakfast buffet; they made us fresh omelets, hot breakfast soups, savory breakfast entrees, a variety of fresh breads, jams and a real honey comb rack, cheese and olive selections, fruits and vegatables, and lastly a variety of juices, milks and coffee choices. There is something for everyone.
Location: It is located in a quieter part of Istanbul; I was able to reach the Old City in my car rental within a 20 minute drive and IST airport within 25min. I prefer being away from the denser parts of Istanbul for my lodging, and driving into town if I desired to see the touristy areas.

Decent hotel, value for money. Location was a bit sparse for restaurants but sufficient for a night's stay. The room was great as well, clean and functional.
I wasn't going to leave anything negative until my checkout experience. I was quite put off by the staff's insistence (a female, completely forgot her name) on leaving a review, especially since my car was waiting for me at the lobby. Initially, she asked if I could leave a review and I agreed. She then proceeded to say "you can do it now" to which I was taken aback by her demanding tone, yet I still decided to help as I know reviews are crucial for businesses. She directed me to leave a review on this platform, but since the system has yet to register my checkout, I told her that I can't leave a review and would do so once I get a notification. However, she was extremely persistent and said "no, you can actually leave it now" and tried to meddle with my phone to find a way, even calling another staff to assist her. I repeated myself multiple times, reminding them that I have to rush off and catch a flight. It felt like they were keeping me in the hotel, ensuring that I didn't leave a bad review. After what felt like the fourth or fifth reminder, she finally gave up and allowed me to leave. I have never experienced such treatment in other 5-star hotels, a level that this establishment claims it is. They would often be confident in their service and simply ask that a review be left at the guest's own convenience. I think the staff should be reminded that the guests have the decision to leave it and it is their own decision, not at the hotel's demand.
Additionally, I wanted to use the gym and sauna at around 9am. While the gym was open, the air conditioning wasn't. To make matters worse, despite being way past the opening hours, the sauna was not even switched on and I was told I had to wait for around 1 hour for it to be heated up. If you inform guests of the opening hours for your facilities, should you not adhere to it? It is quite surprising that it was only switched on when I asked to use it at around 930am.
