Thyme

Thyme is a haven in a sea of boutique countryside hotels and they've nailed it. From the moment you enter your shoulders drop due to the sheer beauty of the place. The staff are friendly without being overly informal, and every square of the plot has been designed so that each guest feels in their own bubble. This is something that sets Thyme apart from any other boutique hotel I've stayed at - it did not feel busy, despite going on an August weekend. It's a blend of the design of the hotel, the number of rooms and the general flow. The pool feels like something out of the south of france, while the houses feel quintissentially English. The food is beautiful - you can tell so much attention to detail has gone into the sourcing of the ingredients and the menu. It's genuinely authentic, something which is rare to find in the hotel world.

Really nitpicking here the Swan pub associated with the hotel was underwhelming. Service was poor and the food was ok, but for the price should have been much better.

Fabulous location, the best of the Cotswolds. Wonderful Restaurant, efficient and helpful staff. Delightful stay.

The grounds are beautiful. Most of the staff were very friendly. Food in the restaurant was good.

We paid around £700 per night during one of the hottest weeks of the year. For that kind rate you expect an exceptional room with AC. Our room did not have AC and was uncomfortably hot with nothing but a couple of fans blowing hot air around. All other 5 star hotels in the area at that price point have AC. For £700 per night you also expect a room to be impeccably appointed and maintained; it should feel like you are the first to stay in it. Again here Tyme did not deliver. The bathroom was very disappointing and poorly maintained. The mattress not up to standard and the sofa uncomfortable. The staff by the pool were often rude and constantly informed us that if we left for a second then we would have to take our things with us. Despite the fact that we had a service animal with us our dog was not initially welcome at the pool or in the pool house. We could hardly leave him in our room which was 30 degrees plus. We were asked to leave the pool by 2pm on the day of check out to make way for new guests. All in all some of the staff made us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. I would not recommend the property to others.
