Go for the property, stay for the food!

The food is beyond fabulous!! Our room was very comfortable, spacious and well done, great shower and bath. The baa bar lounge is lovely, the property is so beautiful and everyone who worked at the restaurants/ bar were so kind and attentive.

Because of the public access laws in the UK, random people come through the fields on the property with off leash dogs that they don’t clean up after and one who I narrowly escaped from (thanks to a side gate) when it tried to attack my service dog. This isn’t a discredit to the hotel, which is fabulous. Unfortunately they are saddled with having to allow everyone through the main fields on property, and I’m sure that’s more of a pain for them than it was for me but it was scary to have to run away from a large, aggressive dog whose owner wasn’t even staying at the hotel, especially given how much it cost us to stay there ourselves.

Exceptional breathtaking place to stay. Totally obsessed!!

Absolutely loved everything!! The beautiful room called Loveage we stayed in was divine. The restaurants, the spa, the chill out lounge spaces through to the garden walks. All staff were exceptional, soo helpful always. We adored our stay here for 3 nights and are obsessed with Thyme!!

Absolutely beautiful hotel, with so much attention to detail, it was heavenly from a comfortable bed to a beautiful tub bath & a great powerful shower, & even a complimentary Negroni..??!!

beautiful location and common areas are beautifully decorated and clean

we were in Calendula and whilst the bedroom was lovely, the bathroom was in need of updating and was incongruous with the rest of the room and hotel

luxury retreat. shame about the early intrusion by staff:

I was woken up by a female member of staff opening the door to my room at 8.15am. no knocking. this was then followed by a male colleague of hers 20 mins later whilst I was still half asleep. completely unnecessary are rather disturbing:

We had a very relaxing time and the spa was excellent, the minor niggles did not spoil it but would expect a more consis

Beautiful estate, well kept, friendly staff

For the price, small inconsistencies. Room heating unreliable, bar poorly staffed and drinks nor properly served, prices not advertised and varied from day to day. Food at times excellent and sometimes not, generally overpriced especially wine list.

Fabulous.

Food was great especially breakfast. The staff were helpful and friendly and we particularly have praise for Tim who was helpful, friendly and informative. (My wife wanted to bring him home!)

Baa Bar was not open, but that was possibly linked to universal staffing problems post coved.

Visit to Thyme

Lovely quiet area and very scenic. Nice room. Lovely evening meal in restaurant. Staff very helpful and friendly.

Disturbed somewhat with the many low flying aircraft going over. Disappointed that the hot tub wasn’t working throughout our visit. Breakfast quite basic - would have preferred pancake option we have had at other spas. Only choice of chocolate croissant or croissant for daily pastries - expected more options.
