Location was superb and staff friendly

The inn is well located on the Main Street close to the Thames path, shops and other restaurants.
In the evening there were several TVs showing football - great for us!
We were allowed to arrive early and use the hotel car park while hiking.
Not much sign of any food - but shops and a butcher selling great pies were very close by.

Overall, the stay was disappointing due to poor communication and a lack of clear information before arrival. There were no clear instructions regarding check-in, parking or what to do upon arrival, which left us having to guess much of the process.
As someone who owns Airbnb properties myself, I always ensure guests receive detailed pre-arrival messages with all the information they need. Unfortunately, I found the guest communication here to be incomplete and not particularly well organised.
The bathroom radiator/towel rail was permanently on and staff were unable to turn it off. The bathroom became extremely hot, especially overnight. The radiator itself became so hot that touching it was painful. Being a larger build (6ft 1in), the bathroom space was already quite restricted, so repeatedly brushing against the radiator and being burnt every time i moved around was both frustrating and painful.
There were also areas of unfinished decorating, including partially plastered walls that had not been sanded or painted, which gave the room an unfinished appearance.
The staff were polite, but at times seemed unsure of procedures and gave the impression they may have been covering shifts rather than being fully familiar with the property.
The room itself was comfortable and the building has character, but improvements in communication, maintenance and guest information would greatly improve the overall experience.
The property had lots of charm & ampules of parking, on the door step to town and easy to get to places without much of a drive.
