From the veranda at Drapers Guesthouse you can see the sea and listen to its music day and night. The staff are exceptional. The owner has an excellent chef who welcomes your choices from the menu with individualized options. The room staff instill trust and clean regularity— and do the extra job if you ask. Drapers Guesthouse is ideally located right next to beautiful Sancho Beach, which is a non-populous public beach where you can find privacy and tranquility. A few hundred yards from
Drapers’ front gate is the lovely Frenchman’s Cove, which has an approximate $20 entrance fee, and not 3 KM away is the exquisite Blue Lagoon, which is virtually free. The Lagoon offers some of the best swimming in the world.
Carla Bulotta, the owner of Drapers, is an excellent host who knows the area like the back of her hand and who is generous with her time and offer of suggestions. Carla is also very dedicated to Jamaican communities and does human rights work in Port Antonio, Kingston, and in other areas of the island.
There is no better place to stay on the north coast.

The owner greeted us and we were able to chat and connect because we do similar activism and I've been to Italy before. I was given a choice as to where we could stay and invited to the local evening entertainment which i wouldn't have known about if the owner hadn't told me. There is a beach near by and it is lovely. its unassuming from the outside but once you enter the gate it is very peaceful and has a lovely vibe to it.
There was nothing that i didn't like. It is great value for money and good location to stay when in Portland.

The location is quite good if you have your own wheels; otherwise, the guesthouse will provide a relieable taxi for you; there are many beautiful beaches nearby. Both the room and the common areas are clean and cutely decorated. Both the room and the bathroom were large enough and well lit, allowing to read in bed. Breackfast was tasty and dinner was always excellent. All the staff members are efficient and kind. Last but not least, the owner is an extraordinary Italian lady who will provide lots of information about the area and also about Jamaica: she has been living in the country for more than 30 years and works there as a Human Rights activist.
The guesthouse is on a steep slope, therefore it is necessary to climb lots of steps in order to reach the different areas; moreover, these steps are uneven and are to be found even in unsuspected places, such as one inside the room I had. There are no thick curtains to prevent the bright morning light to fall very early on your eyes. There is a roaster who starts making a very lond noise at around 06.00 AM, preventing you from sleeping a little longer. It is not possible to pay with a credit card.

Host Carla was very nice and the water pressure was high.
Beds in the triple were not comfortable, bathroom was tiny with a faulty basin pipe which sprouted water and wet the floor and your clothing. The toilet seat was coming off. The accommodations in which we stayed, a party of 5, would benefit from a renovation. I read the reviews and made my choice based on the reviews to stay for one night but unfortunately I cannot comment positively as I did not experience what other people wrote. There were other rooms on the property, so the comments were made probably from staying in those rooms. Electrical outlets needs to be checked. Parking is a challenge.
