Exceptional

All the staff was amazing. I arrived in off season but the mood in the hostel was great!! They really take care of you! Big thanks especially to Hasan who made my whole stay fun and easy! Thanks for the unlimited supply of aloe Vera for my leg burn from surfing!! And big thanks to all kitchen and maintenance staff, you’re amazing!

So far so good

Community is nice, lots of people always around. Filtered water for refilling bottles for free. Close to the beach and bit off the street.

Hostel is a bit pricy for a hostel this style - a single room with own bathroom is same price. It can be also a bit loud in the dorm.

A very hard place to leave!

Having stayed a couple of days at surfing wombats a couple of years back I knew what I was heading for, Surfing Wombats is much more than hostel it’s a way of life. Wombats attracts sociable young surfers looking to score the many epic waves located just a stones throw away from the hostel, the restaurant is famous for the best pizza’s in Sri Lanka and the social events put on draw in a crowd from miles around which makes it the perfect place to meet great people who you’ll undoubtedly meet on your travels or in the line ups. Kroot and Romina have created a wonderful refuge for the anyone seeking to explore the south west of Sri Lanka, their knowledge and contacts are invaluable when making plans. All the staff there are extremely welcoming and ensure that you have a wonderful stay.

very scruffy room - wouldn’t recommend to stay there

nice Restaurant around (although more expensive than other places around)

- worst room on my 4 weeks roundtrip - room was full of mosquitoes because some parts of the window you couldn’t close - therefore also quite noisy - room was very dirty and equipment super old, uncared and rusty - bathroom direct to the restaurant, so you and the guests hear each other - one of the more expensive places compared to other places in midigama

Nice tent, Midigama rocks!

Staying in the tent was a nice experience. Even if it became pretty hot during the day it was perfectly chill at night. Location was perfect just a few minutes walking from the beach. During the day it got a bit busy in the restaurant but mostly we had a calm stay. Awesome Pizza!!

There could have been more toilets, but after we found out about the one in the dorm it was alright.

Atmosphere was amazing. Staff and people who stayed were so welcoming and it felt like home. I was planned to stay couple nights..ended up always coming back from little trips and overall stayed 17 nights in a dorm. Big recommendation :) p.s. they have free filtered water tap, wifi and also amazing italian restaurant!
