The motel was wonderful. It’s remote but then Haast is remote anyway. However the motel itself was a pleasant surprise. The rooms are really comfortable and well appointed. Small touches like cookies in the room, makeup remover kits, good coffee and more. Beds were super comfortable and the room was warm. The location is what sets it apart, beach on one side and the Haast pass mountains on the other. Amazing sunsets over the beach and amazing sunrises over the mountains. Plus horses and sheep were a nice touch. The host was wonderful - so warm and inviting - he made us feel like family. I would stay again if I was in Haast. Thanks

I loved everything about Haast Beach Motel. In fact, I wish we had stayed an additional night! The two-bedroom apartment was very clean, comfortable and well appointed. The sunset over the private beach was spectacular, as was the sunrise over the mountains at the back of the property. The host was warm and informative. It felt like a home away from home. Would definitely stay here again.

It was convenient for our trip. It is across the road from the Tasman Sea beachside. A lovely walk. It is away from the township so quiet.

Only show in town
Owner was weirdly hostile / defensive / rude. In the wrong business.
Room had an odor and was too hot (AC didn't work and was super loud + sand flies get in through the screen so couldn't really keep the window open despite the screen). Did the trick for 1 night passing through but regretted not just going straight through to Wanaka.
Note that the WIFI is unreliable AND there is NO CELL SERVICE at the location (we both had local SIM cards)
