Comfortable, warm accommodation on a cold evening.

We liked the comfortable bed. The heating warmed the room quickly and adequately. We liked the unusual decoration in the room.

We had difficulty in actually finding the place. There was no sign, just a small street number. Accessing the property was a bit complicated, but OK once you did it the first time. At least you knew your car was securely parked.

great place to stay, bed was comfortable, hosts were lovely, locals were very friendly and welcoming.

A small but very functional studio in a lovely area. we liked that it was well equipped, had a good selection of teas, coffees, oil and spices etc and a nice covered area outside with gas bbq and table.

Generally liked everything, only downside was didn’t see anyone and was actually hoping for advice on locality although there was lots in the accommodation.

Bower's Hideout turned out to be an excellent home base for our sightseeing and bushwalking in the Kandos - Rylstone area and the Wollemi NP. It was private, self contained and comfortable and the cooking facilities were quite adequate for our needs. The bathroom / toilet section was good, though if you were a very large person, it would be a tight squeeze. The aircon is quiet and efficient.There's also a pergola in the back yard with views to the nearby escarpment - a great place to sit in the late afternoon. Shawn is a good and friendly host, who is around if you need him but doesn't intrude on your privacy. There's an excellent IGA just up the road, which was very handy, as well as a gallery close by, WAYOUT Art Space, which is open Thursday to Sunday and serves good coffee. Bower's Hideout is not the Ritz - more a homely retreat - but the tariff is very reasonable and we found it more than adequate for our needs. We will definitely be back!

The BBQ wasn't super clean (but great to have a BBQ there!) and car access was a bit tight, requiring that you either back into or out of the property, or park on the street. The wi-fi is patchy at times and be aware that there's no Vodafone reception in the area.

Bower's Hidout in Kandos is very welcoming and compact in a quiet and peaceful location hidden away only 2 minutes stroll from the town centre. It has a great view up to the escarpment behind Kandos and has everything you need for a comfortable, laid-back, self-contained stay including a comfy bed. The hideout is interestingly decorated with a unique collection of Bower Bird style objets d'art. We were also very impressed with the excellent lighting, especially the bed-side lamps. Bower's Hideout is conveniently situated between Lithgow and Mudgee with Wolgan and Capertee Valleys an easy touring drive away and Rylstone 10 minutes up the road. Shaun was a friendly and helpful host. We recommend Bower's Hideout for a good value enjoyable stay. Peter and Victoria.

Needs better lighting in the BBQ area

The studio apartment was beautifuly appointed; had a very comfortable bed; a great atmosphere and many little extras to make our stay a wonderful experience. Shawn was a gracious host and the kitchen was well set up to enable us to stay indoors on a very cold night. The room was very cosy and warm. The table and chairs set up outside enabled us to have breakfast in the sun, taking in a very nice view.

Mostly, a wonderful experience. However, the bathroom was quite cold and could be enhanced by some heating.

Accommodation was a short walk to the main part of town. View of the ranges was superb. The whole area was a lovely quiet experience.

Bathroom was extremely cold with no heating. Minor dust on all trinkets throughout the cabin.

Lovely, quiet, quirky and comfortable. We were looking for somewhere to rest and relax while we visited the Mudgee Small Farm Field days. We didn't want to stay in Mudgee as we new it would be busy. The Bower's Hideout in Kandos was a perfect fit for us.
