Hostal Juana de Arco is located just by Santo Domingo Square near the center of Quito. The rooms all apparently have a private bathroom, and mine was also large with a comfortable bed, private bathroom, and a lovely view over the square. There is also a nice and good-sized kitchen with several dining tables, so you can bring some food, cook, and eat there.
The room overlooking the square can be a bit noisy with the trollybus traffic, (Trolebus) but it calms down at night, and it is certainly worth any small disadvantage to have the wonderful view over the square and the 5 minute access to the Santo Domingo Cathedral.

Very nice and helpful lady who sits in the lobby. Fine kitchen with some utensils everyone can use, including fridge. Very good WiFi.
Nice old classical colonial style all over.
Very noisy day and night. No matter the curfew is or not, the cars and buses passing by won't let you sleep by midnight at least. The window remembers XIX century and has practically no sealing.
Bathroom on the common area, that we had to use, was the size of those you can find in train wagons. Very tight and the hot water runs with so much delay that it is unacceptable.
Only one electric socket in the room, falling out of the wall. Law wattage single lamp high in the ceiling, that provides poor lighting.
